Filled up for 249.9 yesterday morning, went to 251.9 about 4 hours later. Most stations in the area are reaching 2.69 to 2.79. The thing I don't understand is that diesel is now about 27 cents lower on the wholesale market but the dealers are raising the diesel prices more than regular gas. I am budgeting about 4.00 per gallon for our summer vacation but that may not be enough.

Here in beautiful SW Florida, diesel was at 2.74 on Wednesday morning. When I fueled up Wednesday afternoon, it was $2.87. Today I topped off the tank because we are heading north tomorrow morning; cost at Chevron was $2.79. Shell next door was still $2.89.

Diesel here just jumped 16 cents this week now 2.75 gal it is surely suspicious now that heating season is ending and fuel now costs more??????? we had a mild winter here in NE and athe fuel should have dropped due to lower expected usage. I guess it will be another record year for the oil companies and our wonderful leaders.....

Here in Eugene Oregon at the 76 station 2.79 diesel and 2.99 gas.
The next 2 quarters you will see RECORD profits for the oil companies, quaranteed!

Just heard on Fox News Channel tonight that gasoline prices are probably going to top $3.00/gal. I hate to think what that will do to diesel prices. I also heard that our government (homeland security) is requiring our local refinery (which may be one on the smallest in the nation) to hire 250 additional security personnel. If all refineries have to do that, guess what will happen to the price of fuel.

I think Mark and Susan are on the right track. Not much we can do. Bite the bullet and budget $4/gal for diesel (maybe $3.50 for gassers) for this summer. Have to adjust our plans. Do we have a choice???

Maybe I have to play the Lottery a little more...

Dave,

You bet you have a choice! The other option is to sell your truck and coach. Go buy yourself a small economy vehicle or a bus pass and find a condo or apartment. Sit at home and do nothing, spend no money, and go no where. Life is grand, we all have such great choices and options in our life. Thats the beauty of it... Enjoy which ever way you choose... =)

(readers: do not take any harsh undertones in the above statement. It is meant purely as a light hearted alternative option to the rising cost of living.)

Dave, I am deeply offended... NOT .

Actually, I believe the phrase is, "You will have to pry my FTing lifestyle from my cold, dead fingers..." I may have borrowed that phrase from somewhere else...

I should have qualified that statement with, "what choice do we have... within the framework of our committment to the FTing lifestyle, as that is non-negotiable."

Boy I hope I said that right?

Can I fit on the back of a volkswagon? LOL I pity those people that have those large boats. I believe their gas mileage may be less than ours (or they resort to wind power).

Mark,

I was already paying $3.93 a gallon last summer to fill the boat up. I am sure it will be well over $4 a gallon this summer, so glad I have a 85 gallon tank on the boat. To fill up should run me at least $340 a tank this summer(if not more)! My good friend in the slip next to me has a 150 gallon tank on his cruiser, should run him $600 to fill up. The price of fuel still won't keep me or him from boating or driving this summer. I know I worked too hard for too long to quit boating and RV'ing. I will just have to dip into the food and beer budget this summer. Maybe that will help me lose those extra 15 lbs I need to shed.... lol!

PS~ Dave, I love your philosophy on your new life style! Enjoy it, you've earned it...

Today diesel went up to $3.19 in our small town in the foothills of San Diego. I hope we've saved enough money for our trip to Alaska this June!!

Diesel in Dover, Ohio (about 20 miles south of Canton on I77) just hit $2.99.9/gal. Glad we filled up in Canton last night at $2.74.

I have a very strong urge to vent some political frustrations here. Since this forum is rated "G", I'll just bang my head against the wall until I feel better.

Driving through Atlanta, diesel was $3.19 on the North end of the city. This was off the interstate, but I thought this was ridiculuous.
