Slides slow opening and closing?

Planning on getting out of Maine in the next day or two and heading south.

Have had the slides closed for the past month or so and today when we opened her up to start packing, the slides seemed very slow opening. Thought it might be because the Monty hasn't been opened and it is cold here around 30 degrees. We ran the furnace while packing, and temps got up to 65, plus had an electric heater going too. Closed the slides up for the night and they still seem to be going slow.

Is this normal in a colder climate and after being closed for awhile? Or can there be a problem???

If your battery is low on charge, the converter won't operate the slides. I would check the battery charge. (Check the water level if you haven't lately.)

The Monty has been plugged in all winter, when we checked the reading on the battery it said it was full. Haven't checked the water level, but will check it out tomorrow.

Ever have a manual xmission and try shifting when it's really cold? Not an easy task until everything warms up. I would say the cooler temps are the most likely cause and heat inside the Monty won't do much for the fluid and pump that operates the slides. If you mean you looked at the idiot lites on the panel inside, as long as you're plugged into shore power and the converter's working they will read full even if the batteries are nearly dead. As suggested by the Ozz Man, I'ld check water to rule out possible battery prolems tho.

Yes, it was the idiot lights on the panel inside. We unplugged from the shore power when we checked it. Will check the water levels in the batteries tomorrow too. I am so anxious to get out of here before the snow starts blowing. Early February we will be at Patrick AFB, in Cocoa Beach, don't think it is too far from you guys. Maybe we can get together, I would love to check out the RV park that you guys are staying at. It looks really nice.

Good Morning Rondo,

We will be heading to Florida. Jim is retired military so most of the time we stay at military bases. On our way down we will we stopping at Charleston, S.C., St. Mary's Georgia, Mayport, Fl., Cocoa Beach, Fl. and then on to Key West. We don't plan on heading back up until sometime in May.

This is the first time that we are going to be snowbirds and looking forward to it. Are you guys in Florida too, if so, where? It would be great to get together with other MOCer's also.

Now all that we have to do is open those slides again to finish packing and close them up again. The plan is to get out of here Monday morning and get the sun.

Will you be able to make it to the Tampa RV Show? The MOC bunch is meeting on Friday the 13th(nice day to meet huh). After meeting at the Montana display, we're going out to eat. PM me or email me if you like. Hope you can make it!!
We're on out way down to Florida ourselves and will be spending two months down South with multiple stops in the Gulf States all the way from FL to TX.

Jim and Marge, Cocoa is approx an hour North of us. We would be right on your way to the Keys as the park is located right between I95 and the Florida Turnpike, so easy on and off from either one. We found this place when we were down in the Spring looking. Looked at some you couldn't pay us to stay at, Treasure Coast isn't the cheapest one we looked at, but it's smaller, fairly new, and the folks here are really great. Run by a couple of Full Timers and the other staff is Full Timers or Long Timers, so they know about RV life. We will be here til mid April, so if you get a chance stop by for a day or two on your way to the Keys.
