Charging Batteries while driving

I know that as I travel down the road with my Dodge 3500 I am charging the batteries in the Montana, but does anyone know approximately what the amperage is going back to the batteries? I ask this because I have six 6 Volt Batteries for my solar panels and I am curious as to the maximum level of charge I can get while driving. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate your input.Thanks. John

Do you have single 6-volt batteries (6 volts) or two 6-volt batteries in series (12 volts)? Normally the truck alternator will provide sufficient charge to get the batteries up to normal voltage (13.9 volts for 12-volt batteries). I've never heard of an over-charge caused by the truck alternator.

My Montana is a 12 Volt system, so yes I have them wired in parallel for three sets of 12 Volts batteries. If I am on shore power my inverter/charger will provide a charge at various levels high amperage during bulk charge, holding that level during acceptance charge, and lower level amperage at Float charge. Basically the same thing happens when my solar panels are operating which run through the Solar Booster. Where I get confused is what is happening when my tow vehicle is hooked up, is it charging fast (high amperage) for an auto battery or low amperage for a deep cycle battery?

I believe it's a low amperage charge. I could be mistaken. Ozz??

Not sure about the pin config but couldn't you just put your meter on and check it? I haven't tried it, but I would think that would give you the answer.
