[:(!] tow mirrors

this is just a word of caution when deciding to change the OEM mirrors on your TV with trailer towing mirrors.. In June of 06 I purchased the CIPA 76000 tow mirrors to replace my 2002 GM mirrors. they gave a great view however it appears that the mirror assembly is a fair weather product. This past winter it got very cold and I barely touched the garage door jamb with the mirror and the plastic housing shattered into a million pieces IT never left a MARK on the Jamb. and never folded over. then a week latter the passenger side hit the corner of the shed while plowing snow and it also failed to fold over and as a result it broke beyond repair.. I call the supplier SUMMIT Racing and they made a 3 way call to the factory and the factory informed me that it wasn't a product defect and therefore not warranty.. They said that I have to move the mirrors myself that they are not designed to move upon contact. I disagree and Summit's answer was that they would be willing to sell me another set for 10% less or $330.00 Needless to say I will not purchase another CIPA product. So beware... are.http://montanaadministrator.forumco....icon_mi_13.gif

Having lived in northern NY and having plowed snow with my own rig I have first hand experience with the cold and mirrors. I myself cracked a mirror and like you I barely touched it. Not sure just how cold NH gets but I do know plastics get awfully brittle when exposed to the cold and the colder the more brittle they become. It doesn't take much of a touch either.
