Ok, bit of a Smart Alec answer…

My awning is not out when it rains.

If you are away from your RV with the awning closed, and it rains, your steps will get wet. Don’t see the problem.

If you are enjoying the outdoors under your awning and a sudden storm hits you, I assume you close your awning and your steps will get wet. Again, don’t see what the problem is.

Steps get wet all the time.

Just saying. (please don’t judge me)
