Per your profile - your unit is a 2012 and I looked online for a pic of your fireplace to see if it was similar to mine - but it is not. Someone here will have an answer for you.

There are four screws holding your fireplace in to the frame. These photos will show you where they are at. The lower side ones are accessible when you open the lower flap door.

Quite likely it is not your thermostat, but is simply dirty. My husband called customer service and they told him before he did anything to take it out and use an air compressor and blow it out good. Plug it back in before reattaching to rv. Should work like a charm.

I have a 2012 3450RL 5th wheel and my fireplace also stopped working a few years ago so I replaced it. Replacements are available that will fit perfectly in the opening and yes they are held in by a few simple screws that appear to have been drilled at the Keystone factory. I had to drill new holes in the frame of the fireplace because the old holes lined up with the glassed-in portion of the fireplace. The fireplace MIGHT stay put by itself without screws, but I would not chance it. One screw on each side of the upper area of the fireplace will hold it. I was hesitant to buy a cheap fireplace because I worried about all the things that could go wrong with a cheap heater, so the new one is a Dimplex, costs more, but it is a lot nicer than the old one with a remote and a thermostat.
