Buying next weekend! MHC345RL

Wow.. so new we haven't towed it out yet! hahaha...

so although in TX now, i was raised in Long Beach CA for 61 years then moved out here for work. now retired i have one consulting job but in 6 months finished for good.

So i've been fixated on RV'ing for quite awhile, and now that we're almost there it was time to buy. So.. this coming weekend we'll see and if the unit looks nice, we'll have an inspector check it out as it's used.. a 2018 MHC345RL.

i've got a ton of questions.. so i'll be searching for most of the stuff as i'm sure most of the newbie Q's have already been answered several times before.. and there's no reason to re-invent the wheel.

so for now, we're in Dallas for the next 1.5 years where we'll move to our house in Florence, SC.

Happy Days,
Ron-

Welcome aboard! There are lots of similarities between many of the models so answers are usually easy to come by. Ask away or just let us know how it's going!

A good inspection is very helpful so glad you've got someone to help you. Good luck!

yes.. definately an inspection. even though i 'may' be able to perform the inspection myself as i'm a commercial waterproofing consultant, the inspection i would perform would not be as thorough and probably take twice the time. hence the reason you use a 'third party inspector'.. hopefully an expert in RV inspection... Just as you'd have done when you buy a house.. sheesh not spending 250-300 on an inspection for a final cost of 50-60k is dumb in my opinion.

All this said, just trying to buy our truck took about 3 months. with the delay in 'chips' for new trucks and cars has left the pool of used trucks as the only alternative unless you have about 85 to 90k for a new truck (not me of course)

so... this weekend we'll be traveling to tulsa ok., from dallas (where we live). as with trucks.. the supply of RV's across the nation has dindled.. I was going to get a 305rl, and had setup an appointment with the individule for this coming weekend.. and finally a 345rl poped in tulsa. when i look.. unless your willing to spend 75k on a new 345rl there are only a handful of these across the nation and one of the options i did want was an outdoor kitchen (which the 305 did not have).

anywho, glad to be here.. and totally ready to get started.. and believe me.. i've got a ton of questions!

Welcome and safe travels. Smart move to have the rig professionally inspected.

Fantastic! We bought a 2018 MHC 345 RL last October. Love it. We have used it about 6 months so far and towed it about 6K miles. No major issues, just some loose trim. We have installed a surge protector, up graded the batteries, installed new combo door lock, replaced the RV king with a standard Queen (gives us much more room to walk around), and added a washer and dryer. Just replaced the tires with Sailuns. Feel free to ping me at john.h.hamel@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Ron, you didn't mention what you were going to purchase in the way of a tow vehicle for your High Country. You should narrow your search exclusively for a 1 ton truck either in single rear wheel drive or a dually.Your search on this forum will answer the question as to why, so I'll let you discover that answer on your own. The 2020 and later GM and Ford diesel trucks have been upgraded with 10 speed transmissions that are amazing with tow power. The RAM still has the RFE68 6 speed as standard, but in the 3500 model an Aisin 6 speed is a quality upgrade, which allows the diesel engine to be tuned for much higher torque and horsepower. An air ride rear suspension is also an available upgrade on the 3500 as well. There is a Keystone owner's forum that is just as useful as the MOC, which you should consider joining. The two forums are closely allied.
