Rubbing compound

I have a couple of spots of paint transfer on my 3790. I was going to try rubbing compound to erase them. Is that a good compound to use? Or should I try something else. I tried Goof Off but it did not work.
Any suggestions?

I would try a paint cleaner first. McGuire's makes a really good paint cleaner type wax. It is less abrasive. If you end up using rubbing compound, be very careful that you do not scratch the gel coat too much. I've heard of some people actually using cheap toothpaste as it is similar and less abrasive.

You might leave a dull spot where you use the rubbing compound. I’d start with some polishing compound and if that didn’t work I’d try either scratch remover or rubbing compound followed by the polishing compound. Finish with your wax of choice. Always start with the least aggressive media first. A random orbital buffer will give a better and easier result. If you resort to a grinder with a cotton pad, or a non D/A buffer be careful and keep it moving or you can “burn” the finish.

It might sound odd, but try a shot of WD40. Let it sit for a minute and see if the paint wipes off.

Acetone or lacquer thinner might do it. As they say try it in an inconspicuous spot 1st.

I saw some youtube videos that helped me. Always try the least aggressive first. A Magic Eraser , Mr Clean makes one that worked good for me.

I used Acetone and it took the paint away. Problem solved! Thanks everyone for your help.

I've used white toothpaste for 50 years on so many small jobs on cars, bikes and RV's. Works well, always around and I would have had to buy so many cans of compound in that time (they do go bad), for all those small jobs.
