I have bought 3 new Montanas and all 3 had toppers installed at the factory. I wouldn't be without them.

If a topper flaps excessively, the installer unrolled more the one complete turn off the roller when doing the assembly. I did that with the 13 footer on ours as my helper only had a very few minutes he could spend. The fix was to add that. in this case those 2 turns. Not difficult, but time consuming in that you need to remove the brackets AFTER pinning the roller. Once the brackets are loose, and one end at a time the pin is removed, the requiste number of turns are - carefully - wind the bracket against spring tension. Flapping gone in all but the worst winds. It will also help in keeping those gallons of water from pooling, but not a cure on a long awning,

We have had several 5th wheels and a Motor Home with slide toppers, we purposely didn't get slide toppers on our 2021 Montana 3762BP. Really not needed, you should blow off what ever is on your slide's before bring them in. My opinion.

Spend some time in South Texas (RGV) you will see why I don't prefer slide toppers.

Happy Trails.

We ordered ours installed from the factory. I was thinking about installing them after we purchased it, so I just ordered the unit with them installed.
They really aren't that hard to put on. You need some help and a couple of good ladders. Good luck

Mine were installed after the fact by a Keystone dealer. Never had any issues with them and I love them. I had them installed because like JDDilly said, I'm getting too old and not so well balanced to be climbing up on top and clearing the slides before I close them each time.

We full time so the slides are out almost 24/7, The florida sun kills them in a couple of years anyway so we do not have them. we use plastic roof panels cut to fit instead and if i need to move the rv, the panels come down i roll them up and thats it.

On our 381 I installed myself, the existing rain gutters were set at the correct height to receive the awing, just had ti install the brackets on the slide outs. After the first season I tightened them all a little so they are taught. From the factory I would get them but around here most dealers are incompetent.
