Awning pulling/tearing away from tube
Well the infamous NoDak wind has done it's duty on the patio awning and the fabric has pulled out/tore from the tube about 4 inches. Has this happened to anyone else and how did you repair it? We have an awesome automotive/home appolstry shop nearby and will contact her about it.

Don't know how well it works, but Camping World (and others) sells awning repair tape.
Google awning repair tape for other suppliers.

Rich, unfortunetly the tree bent the framework quite badly and I did not want to try and put the awning out at my storage facility in case I couldn't get it back in. The sevice person from the dealership came out and measured the length and said that would be enough.

Mine started de-laminating in Florida this winter, it looked trashy. Also the upper edge was torn a little next to the trailer. This awning was 5 years old. $600 material and labor to have mine replaced. When the Technician removed the old awning, pulling it out of the track up top, I heard the brittle material brake and snap. It was time to replace the whole thing.
Therefore, if it has some age on it I suggest replacing.

Lowes and Home Depot have colored duct tape in white and clear. Some have had good luck with the repairs others have not. Try it and let us know how you do.

As long as the tube is true, replacing the awning itself is not hard, but does take two folks to do. Took us a couple of hours total to complete, including adjustment of tension. Can't remember how much my buddy paid for the awning. Couple of rivets to drill out, and patience with sliding on the replacement both on the unit and the tube.

My awning is an electric one. Should have listened to the DW when she said it was too windy for it to be out.

I sure hate it when that happens. And it happens all the time.

Repaired the tear with an Eternabond patch. Worked perfectly so far and will do the other side as that will probably tear later on as well. Thanks for the help and suggestions!
