Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Can y'all recommend a good TPMS? I just ordered the Sailuns, now I need to purchase the TPMS.

Which ever one you choose I'd recommend getting a flow through set. I have a non flow through and wish it was a flow through.

General question for those using the TST 507. What is the range of temperatures you are seeing on your tires after running them for a while? Say after an hour. I know this will vary depending on a lot of factors, but I am trying to get a general idea. Thanks!

FYI, ran into a gentlemen few months ago that put TPS on his truck and camper and had two Flats back to back on truck... the TPS weight ripped his rubber valve stems off, he was replacing all with steel valve stems when he left campground.

If it is 60 outside, then after 15 minutes of highway driving, the temp will be around 80 I think. If it is 95 outside, then maybe 105-110. This is from memory so may not be real close, but gives you an idea.
I think I have my low pressure set to 68 or so, and in the mornings in the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming, with outside temps around 50 the alarm was going off until I drove a while and raised the temp (pressure). Just a FYI. At home (AZ) with temps of 100, I had pressure set to 80, so it dr
ops a lot!!!

I just installed the tst507 right before the trip we are currently on. It worked great.

Truck tires all aired to 70 psi (monitor said 68) while driving for a while it read around 72-74 psi at 80 degrees

Camper tires aired up to 110psi (monitor said 108) while driving for a while it read 120-122 psi at 95 degrees

I have the TST 507. If I had to do over I would get the flow through.

A big fan of TST 507 system. So much determines temp rise it is impossible to say a lot, road temp, air temp, weight of trailer, and tires mounted. I found my Cougar LR E tires gained more heat than the Sailun S637 on the heavier Montana.

My 5er is 43' and repeater not needed. I recently called and asked if one would be needed if a sensor was purchased for the spare underneath the unit and behind the axels and was told it would not be.

I just returned from the MOC national rally in Goshen. While leaving the meeting Sept 27th i turned my tpms 507 monitor on. I did not use the system going to Goshen on account i thought it didn't work even though i had installed and programmed the system about a month before i left for Goshen. When leaving for the rally i turned the monitor on and nothing happened.I didn't wait long enough for the monitor to pick up the signal so i thought the monitor wasn't working. When leaving the rally i turned the monitor on again and waited a little longer and the monitor started working. About 200 miles down the road i started getting a shrill sound from the monitor and saw that my left front tire was registering 95 pounds and all the others were around 120 pounds. I was inflated to 110 psi on all the tires so i knew there was a problem. I stopped at a tire store about 2 or 3 miles down the road and took my tire off across the street from the tire store as i couldn't fit in there parking lot. The worker submerged my tire in a tank and found the wheel was leaking from a hairline crack. This is the 2nd factory wheel i have had a problem with. If it wasn't for the tpms i would have done some major damage to the trailer as the tire would have gotten low enough to build up heat and finally come apart. Can't say enough how good these monitor's are. Even if you don't constantly read the monitor the warning sound is enough to catch your attention so that you can pull over hopefully before you wipe out the side of your trailer.I will now have 2 spares as it is not easy to find spare wheels while traveling for these trailers. I have 4 Hispec wheels ordered now to get rid of the factory wheels. These sailun tires have now outlasted 2 wheels so they are obviously tougher than the wheels.

so i have a question about the cracked wheels. where do the end up cracking. could it be the pressure that these tires are running at. i know the wheels and tires are rated for 110 psi but are they recommending running them at max pressure. i would think that the added extra pressure plus the weight and stiffness of the sailun or any other g rated tire would all add fatigue to the wheels. minor compared to the mine field of roads that we run on. so both of those added up i would think that if we run them at a slightly lower pressure it would help. just my non cents.

We will be picking up our new 3791RD in a few weeks. I'm doing some preemptive research and buying to prepare for the new 5r. called the folks over at TST to ask about the need for a repeater. Said yep but it comes with the 507SE kit now. So, where is the best place to mount that receiver? I need to have 12vdc available for its power needs. I was thinking south of the pin. What say you?

Cannot help with that. I bought the 507 system when I had a 35' 5er. Do not need it, all 4 wheels work fins on the 43'er now. I called recently and asked if the repeater would be needed if I purchased another sensor for the spare mounted at the rear and underneath, the response was 'probably not'.
I suggest you call Mike Benson, the TST sales manager. He has posted his contact info here and will give you straight answers.
