Switch for overhead fan

With the a/c connected, we could not find the switch for the overhead fan and light in the livingroom. We have a late model 2013 3150. Anyone know where to find the switch?

I have a much older rig, but the switch for my 2006 3500 is on a wall along with a whole panel of switches by the entry door in the kitchen. The panel also has switches for the overhead kitchen lights, the patio lights, the scare lights, the Fantastic Fan controls in the kitchen and the Thermostat control.

There are also a couple of drop down pulls at the overhead ceiling fan that control the fan and light as well. All these have to be on for everything to work. So after finding the wall switch, you might have to tug on one of these pulls to get things working to your liking.

BTW - for consistency sake when talking about shore power we use AC as the acronym. A/C (or a/c) typically means Air Conditioning. Boy, was I confused at first thinking that the air conditioning might affect the ceiling fan.

Did you get a PDI when you acquired your rig? If you don't know what that means, please ask. There's always the possibility you got one, but forget the details (that happens a lot too).

Welcome to the forum, and keep those questions coming. You'll get a lot of help in this forum.

My 295RK has the switch panel (not breaker panel) in the hallway leading up to the bath/bedroom. The ceiling fan light is the very large brown rocker switch in the center of the panel. Yours may vary.

That said, if you found the switch and it doesn't light the lamp, press the top of the switch (on) and then the pull chain connected to the lamp. I have a second pull chain for the fan.

BTW, to pirate the thread

When my rig arrived at the dealer, the globe on the fan light was broken. Presumably from the hardwood knobs at the ends of the pull chains swinging wildly around during transport.

Our house fans have pull chains with tassels on the ends.. Anyone know where to find them? DW checked at a couple fabric stores like JoAnnes but they don't have them.

GreatWhite, check Amazon.com. I did a search for "fabric tassel chain pulls" and they had some.

Don't know what a pdi is? We checked out the fan at the dealer when I took delivery but just don't remember where the switch was. I obviously tried all the switches and then pulled the chains?
Will check again.

PDI stands for Pre-Delivery Inspection. Our switch is on the wall panel (well, actually the side of the coat closet) heading up the stairs into the bedroom. When you find yours let us know!!!

It should be a large Rocker switch located on your control panel in the RV where your other switches are located such as water heater, slide-outs, porch light . . .

I also have a small switch on the fan base which reverses the direction.

what you might have done is turned off the light with the pull chain first and then tried the rocker switch. Turn the rocker switch on and then pull the chains on the fan and light

Our '13 3100 has the big rocker switch that controls the fan and light. Sounds like racerjoe might have the solution. Rocker switch up, then pull the chain.

On ours the rocker switch that controls the fan is beige and and on the end of the panel while the other switches are brown and to the right of it.

We have a 3150 and it is the large rocker switch on the main switch panel by the stairs.

I recently purchased a late 2013 model 3150. The switch for the fan is a large dark brown rocker located at the upper left side of the control panel leading to the bedroom.

As racerjoe said, both the wall switch and the pull chain switch on the fan have to be in the on position.

In our model it is so easy to bump the wall switch along the stairs and accidentally turn off the master to the fan that we got a friend, and fellow moc'er, with electrical experience, to put a shunt (or other shenanigans) in that wall switch so that it is always "on" no matter the switch position. Now we control the fan and light with their respective pull chains.

We too have a 3150RL Hickory Edition, and wondered if anyone else has solved the problem of dim lighting for the control panel ? We find the ceiling lighting is insufficient for reading the labels over the panel switches, and wondered if anyone has successfully added some form of lighting to improve the lighting over the panel ? Ideas/solutions/examples ? We're open to any ideas !

Hey Leftie, I purchased a pack of several puck lights that push on and off and use AA batteries. I have one under my desk in the office for those times I have to crawl under and mess with wires. They're about 3" round and you can push the center to turn on or off.
These aren't the ones I have, but are very similar...

Unfortunately, this thread is almost 10 years old, so I’m pretty sure the issue has been resolved.

Bob,
Nope, I could not figure out how to start a new post, so I thought if I replied to an old, but somewhat related topic, I could get my issue onto the forum.

Do you find the lighting over the control panel sufficient to see the switch labels without a flashlight ?

I will review the user help on the site again, to see if I can locate the appropriate instructions.

Cheers for now.

Yeah, it's pretty dark where the panel is located in our rig too. Being full time for over 10 years now, we have gotten used to where the various switches are located. I supposed there might be a battery stick on light that might work to light the location if you need that. Here is an assortment of lights that might work. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=battery+p..._ts-doa-p_3_28
