New Here

Hi all:
My name is Jim and I’m new to this group. I live in Vancouver, BC and my wife and I are about to finalize an order for a 2022 Montana Model 3855BR (Legacy Package).

We will be full timing for the next few years and I’m still doing some research on the unit we’re about to order, so get ready for some questions! :-)

We currently have a 2010 Cougar 318SAB that we bought new and have used for traveling for the last 10 years.

I look forward to chatting with all of you and learning from this community.

Best regards,
Jim

Welcome to the group Jim. I'm sure you're getting excited about getting a new rig. Some of the things to consider on a new trailer, if it's an option you can afford, would be disc brakes, easy starts for the A/C units, adding a 3rd air, definitely washer & dryer, full body paint, and if you're off the grid, adding a generator.

Welcome Aboard! You've found a great place to get answers to any questions you might have on the new unit. If the border opens up think about joining us in Goshen, Indiana where your Monte was born and attend the 2021 National Fall Rally in September. It's a great place to learn more about your unit and meet some fellow Montana owners too.

Congrats on your new Montana. With 10 years under your belt and experience with a Cougar, you are well on your way. As you know from experience with your Cougar, it takes about a year to get fully settled into a new camper. You'll be moving things from one spot to another for a while, and then you'll be doing some changes to customize the camper for your needs. Then, you can expect a few warranty items to happen (be patient.... they always get fixed one way or the other), and after a year, you've worked out all the bugs, changes, and upgrades, and you'll be all set. Of course, it never ends after one year either. After 3 years, we decided to install a washer and dryer. That was one of our better decisions we should have added when we took delivery of the camper. We are almost full timers ourselves now. We still have the house we deeded over to our son, and return home every now and then, and we both are still working from the camper where ever we land. We have a mix of all the best RVing has to offer right now.

I hope your adventures are equally as successful!
Again, Congrats on that new Montana!

Jim,
Welcome, and enjoy the new rig. Being in the Vancouver area, you should have lots of opportunities for an RV site, especially if the Covid-19 refugees can now go south in the winter. Here on the Island, sites were booked solidly all winter, and still too busy for a site in summer. Hopefully, things will free up for September and October.
I wish you the best. If you decide to explore the lower Vancouver Island, drop us a private message and perhaps we could meet up.
