2011 GMC Control Module Update

Well, got a voluntary recall letter from GM about re-programming my control module on my new 3500. I called the dealer to make an appointment and asked him if the DEF fix (supposedly what this was all about) was the only thing reprogrammed. He was kinda vague. All he had to do was say "yep" and I would have moved on, but . .
IMO it won't broke before, we'll see what happens.

Had mine done yesterday. Dealer seemed clueless as to exactly what it did or didn't do (no suprise as I think most are clueless to all the Electronics in the newer Trucks. I'm talking to a GM Customer Service Rep on the Duramax Forum about the possible mod to the program to make the Exhaust Brake default "ON" as I sometimes (senior moment) forget to turn it back on after a pit stop.

I have a 2011 Chevy 3500HD also, but its a late 2011 and I don't have any issues and we are about 1,800 miles from home and really hate to start a issue... I will just wait until I get back to home base. And if I hope by then we will be able to pick up our 2012 Chevy 3500HD. The hauler bed is at the dealership waiting on the 2012 so it can be installed.

I do think the fix has something to do with the DEF system, and have read were it might make a slite improvement on fuel mileage. Our 2011 Chevy 3500HD is getting better fuel mileage than any of the 3500HD's we have owned to date. Keep a watchful eye on the fix...

Happy Trails from Santa Fe, New Mexico.....

I am a bit wary of doing anything. I am at 7100 miles and have not even recieved the 1000 mile warning on the DEF. That is way beyond what I'm hearing from otheres. If the sensor is the problem, I want to leave it broken so I don't have to ever add the stuff or worry about being shutdown by the darn computer.
