emissions recall J22-- AXLE RATIO

here is the latest fed government recall info.. I have a 2009 dodge 2500 diesel truck with 4.10 gear manual transmission. In the mail today rcvd recall from dodge....all trucks (416 total i believe) that was built in 2009 which includes mine ""Problem is:

the axles in your truck by vin were inadvertently built with 4.10 gear radio. This could impact the vehicle's fuel economy and/or performance"... I ordered this truck with manual xmission and 4.10 gear....I refused to allow local dealer to install the 3.73 gear.

Having said that, in california requires the gear to be changed and proof , prior to vehicle registration. update. today from chrysler.

"Failure to do so could legally be determined to be a lack of proper maintenance of your vehicle"....what part of not inadvertently don't they understand. more to follow

I guess it's a good thing that you don't live in California. We have some strange laws out here.

Could it be, a truck was to be built with the 3.73 and the factory poopood and intalled the 4.10s by accident and it is only to insure VIN info is correct with truck? Whereas you ORDERED the 4.10s you should be okey in my mind.

Is that for just manual transmissions, or 09's with 4:10 gears regardless of transmissions.
