New School Prayer

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles

But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen!

That's pretty scary. I just can see that too.

Of course since this is not an acceptable topic I'm sure it will be removed.

Prayer is not an acceptable topic?
Did I miss something about what is appropriate to post?
I really am learning so please inform me.
I am NOT trying to be controversial.
The post is just a point of conversation and what ever one believes is his or her rights is fine with me, but doesn't every one have the same rights.

That's my point.

If it is removed, I hope a reason is given.

Thanks.

Thanks for sharing this Waynem. I think we should get back to the basics our forefathers used, after all is this not why our country was started in the first place?

It seems in today's world when they protect "our" rights to be politically correct, they take the ones we've had for years, and enjoyed away from many of us. I remember starting every school day reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, now it's considered a "prayer" and can't be done in the schools. Sad state of affairs in my book.

When 911 hit us and hit us hard, many American's found their way back to God and relied on Him to comfort and protect us. American's however seem to have a short memory.

You know Wayne, you may have a point. I don't see anything in the forum description about religion (I thought I had), so I may have been mistaken. Sorry if I raised any flags. I found your post very interesting personally and could see quite an interesting discussion coming from it.
Our society has no shortage of ills these days and I like to hear what people have to say.

Right on Wayne, right on.
Sad but true works here.I can remember when I was in school we said the Lord's Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance every day in school. Now, in Texas anyway,(my DGC tell me)they say the pledge to the Texas flag and the Pledge of Allegiance. Interesting.....

AMEN BROTHER AMEN!!!!!

Now I am not a particularly religious individual. Except for weddings and funerals, I'll rarely be found in a church. I am not an atheist but I am agnostic to a point. But I do realize that without religion this country would not be what it is today. It is a damn shame how we allow the minority to dictate how this nation will be run and our children raised.
Think about it.. The majority of the nation sees nothing wrong with praying in school or reciting "One nation under God" in the "Pledge of Allegiance". WHY do we allow these naysayer minorities to dictate their way???

Thank y'all for the comments. As I said, it was not meant to be controversial. I just figure that if someone does not like what it being said or written, they can just not listen or read that item once the know the topic. I think most of us are in agreement that the right to free speech applies to everyone. Of course, I know that if I do not abide by the rules and regulations of this forum, I will not be posting here.

The one thing I liked about the military was that I always got the last word in. "Yes sir!" or "No sir!" Sometimes in my mind I spelt it "cur," and pronounced it "sir."

Glen, I'm more like you in my practice. If I were to go into a church the roof would prbably fall in. But I do Believe, say my prayers every night, and have said some prayers of thanks on close calls. I totaled two motorcycles in 2007 and there is only one reason I'm here. My name just had not come up to the top of the scroll yet. (Thank you again Lord!)

Just a comment on prayers. I have a close cousin that is a Franciscan Monk. In conversation on day I stated that sometimes at night while saying my prayers I fall asleep before I finish. He said, "Oh! We all do that. But don't worry, the angels will finish them for you."

Wise man my cousin Kip.
