Dave,
It's just a service center recall but I find it strange that they rolled this recall out the way they did. Our refrigerator is showing none of the signs but when I called today they still said to get it done and made it sound rather urgent.

Thanks, Mac. I have been living for two years in this 3400 and I have no signs of the problems listed. I will get mine in, but I don't feel I need to pick up stakes and rush over (45 miles one way) to get this done ASAP. As I mentioned earlier, I still have nothing in black and white from Dometic, yet.

All they have said in the letter is that you should not run it on gas. With you being set up long term, you probably always run on electric. We have not had any of the problems with ours either,I called our local dealer and they will do the work for us next week, which works out good as it is parked in the yard until august 1st.

I did read that and I mostly do run on elect. However, I have run the fridge on gas briefly on rare occasion.
Does anyone know just how many amps our standard 8 cu ft fridge takes? I know there are some SOBs that have electric only fridges with the backup being an inverter with strong enough bank of batteries. This is an interesting concept.

We run fulltime on gas.
The electric only fridges used are house type units (compressors). The regular RV units pull too much power on AC.

Bigmurf, all RV fridges that are electric only in these fancier SOBs are all compressor types? It seems to me that an RV fridge running on a electric/anhydrous ammonia would draw less than a electric/compressor system. Maybe I'm wrong. Just seems like when my fridge cycles on and off, I barely see my digital meter move. Nothing like the hot water heater, micro, A/C, etc.
Maybe Ozz could shed some light - just how much does our fridges pull when on electric? I can't plug it into my Kill-a-Watt meter.

I just recived my notice on our 2005,3400RL and have an appointment on the 26th of July to fix. I have discontinued the gas supply under advisement from te dealer. I usually run gas from camp gound to camp ground, but this time we charged up the 5 day cooler to transport our food until we landed. Still use the electric since no signs of a problem.

The link to Dometic posted earlier does not work. Any suggestions. I went to their site but no mention of recall. I want to check my serial number.

Dave,
The Keystone Manual I have with our 3400 indicates 3-4 Amps on the refrigerator. I have not done any actual check on it. Dennis

I am sure Dennis is right on, the refrigerator uses an electric heater to operate the absorption system.
Works pretty darn good, too.
(I just glanced at this thread.)

Thanks again to this forum! If not for you guys I would not know we had any issues with our fridge. Ours was on the recall and I go in on 12 Aug to get it fixed. Funny thing is that our friends that we purchased our rigs together with their refer was not on the recall. The build dates are only day from one another.

Just got our recall taken care of today. Even though they told us it would be an hour it only took about 30 minutes. Of course we burned about 5 gallons of diesel towing the trailer there and back, not exactly free.

LazyDays strikes again!!! We got our rerigerator recall notice from Keystone and brought our 2955RL into Lazydays in Tampa, FL. The tech called us and said that we didn't need the fix. Dave talked with the service person who said she would check on it. We got a call back from the tech and guess what?!?! We DO need the fix after all. Like I have said before about Lazydays...they are all over you when you go to buy, but service leaves A LOT to be desired. We bought our 1st 5er at Lazydays, but we bought the Monty from Suncoast RV. Unfortunately Suncoast in Pinellas Park, FL left and we have to go to Lazydays for service. Oh well.
