Decided on Bayliner instead of Big Sky

It is now official, the thoughts of upgrading from the 2007 3400RL to the Big Sky have officially been washed away. The upgrade has migrated from land to the water. DW blessed me with permission for our (that can be read as my) life-long dream of water transportation. We made the deposit today on a Bayliner boat and now are looking forward to a myriad of mixed adventures. The interesting part that she finally figured out is if we are going to a lake to camp, she is the official lead tow vehicle for the boat....GULP. But I have faith that she can handle the task. Now I have a double reason to await the beginning of Spring.

Good one Timothy, I think until I get my sealegs we will be limited to the Kanawha, the Ohio and a couple of our lakes (Sutton, Summersville, and East Linn). 220 HP kinda limits us!!

This is the one thing I do miss about not having our motorhome any more.
Pulling a boat made for some fun outings, but when we wanted to go anywhere we had to pack everything up.
We cannot pull a boat behind our trailer - and not that I'd want to.
Sure would be nice to have both - enjoy!

Well we have boats and all outboards and all boats are a place to pour money in a hole in the water,,, you will have lots of fun but they need work toooo , thats why sail boats take less gas and no spark plugs john

Congrats Bingo!

We've drug a boat and RV to the water for over 30 years. Sometimes we even hauled them all behind 1 Ford (hahahaha).

Enjoy!

Congratulations Bingo, and Cathy. Nothing like getting new toys. Be carefull though, it gets addictive and you wind up with more toys than vehicle to tow them with . My (wifes) boat hasn't seen a lake for 2 years now, but I plan on changing that this summer.

Thanks all,
Won't be in physical possession of the boat until April after closing next week,(bought it up north (Indiana) and have to wait for the lakes to thaw so I can get my two hours of actual on-water experience and training). Will have plenty of time to daydream now anyway. We live about 5 minutes away from the second biggest river in the state and about a half hour from the Ohio River so I beleve one day boating trips will now be a good part of the summer when we are not camping. Don't know if I will be brave enough for saltwater, but time will tell (definitely not this year!!) The best part is it will be quality family time with both DD's (11 and 16) before they go their own merry way down life's highway. I already told DW that this purchase will in no way replace our favorite activity of camping but will instead supplement it. We feel totally blessed and totally appreciative. DW gets the honor of naming her. I have to admit that at first I wanted to because I thought I had the perfect name for a boat....Disciple-Ship. Regardless, the honor will be hers.

Congratulationson the Bayliner, we had one for may years and it was good to us. Kids loved the water. Used to pull the 19' Capri (26'overall), behind a 27' Sierra, with a 1992 4x4 Chevy, total lenght 72'. And yes it was legal in CA. I wouldn't do it these days, young and follish.
The boat trailer also had brake for those that think it might not stop. The hills did make that poor Chevy workout, it is still running at 220,000 with not a problem.

That's close to where I am anyway Waynem. DW was a little astounded about my 3 miles to a gallon remark in passing today. Whewwwwww, definitely need to go camping now, Cmon SPRING!!!!!!! Sailer, I think you are speaking wisely in terms of another money hole, but as I always kid DD's, we are merely spending their inheritance!!!

Bingo, you will love being on the water. It goes hand in hand with the RVing life. We keep our 18ft Hurricane open bow up in MI all the time. Beautiful lakes in the summer. Our summer CG overlooks our primary seven mile long boating lake (see our sig).

Starting to get the itch again. Poor baby is totally encased in blue shrink wrap plastic, hibernating, just waiting for Mom and Dad to get home and wake her up. Maybe I'll stop in and give her a little hug when we come back to N. MI for a visit next week...

Sorry - got carried away there...

Believe me - as far as the money hole goes, its' only $1 to the boat for every $100 to the RV. We've had our current SeaRay for 13 years and it has been trouble free. We just picked it up from the canvas shop this morning where it got a new storage cover, bimini, and full bimini enclosure. Talk about getting me in the mood-

which fizzled rapidly as I watch the snow flakes fall outside .

Like the name Tammy, Ha Ha!!. Dave, curiousity has been aroused about your lake and campground. Does the campground have boat docks?? Where is the lake?? Our purchase place may not be too far away since it is very close to the southern tip of Lake Michigan.
Well, checked on that via your signature and see you are UP!! Depending on travel time (it is eight hours to the dealer) to your area, it may go on the list of future interests. I have a lot to learn about this beast, since DW is afraid of water, ahe has already emphasized that she will not get into the water to board and get off the boat. This presents difficulties since it is a rear platform boat. Might have to get some e-mails flying back and forth for the next couple of months so I can absorb some knowledge from you guys. Anybody willing to offer advice and education PM or e-mail me please since obviously I don't want to start a louvered tailgate thread on boating!! This beast is 24 feet long and I haven't even drove a boat since college (20 + years). Contacts appreciated.

Bingo,
One good word of advice. Keep the water on the outside.

Tammy,
Will you boat come with snow skis?

Y'all are spending way to much of your DK's inheritance. I'm either going to stick to a 15Ft aluminum, or one of the "folding boats," to take along camping. Imaging, camping and having a boat that the DW does not have to pull.

Bingo,
I provided rescue service in the Hampton Roads area back in 1975-76 time frame. We had a 21 Ft Renel (sp) donated to us. When you get that 24 footer, just take it easy and learn it. You'll be comfortable in no time at all.

Can I go for a ride? Please! Pretty please! Huh?
