I had my 03 F250 in to a Ford dealer in AZ for an oil change and I asked them to check whether my Vin # was part of the recall. I never got a stright answer from them on that specific question but they did check the sensor and I was told it didn't need to be replaced because it was the right color. Apparently they change colors when they start to fail. But apparently it is a mandatory recall which requires a part change but just a check to see if it has failed. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. We are back in WA for the holidays and will check my local dealer to see what the real scoop is.

Well to follow up on my post of Dec 10th there was something wrong with my truck. The DPF was cracked. It is amazing how a much a defective DPF can affect the all over performance of these new diesel motors, Another thing marketing failed to tell us. The performance is now what we expected from a diesel motor. The MPG is up, the all over performance is super improved. After over 500 miles my tail pipes are clean..not a trace of soot.We are now happy diesel owners.(lets hope it last) just for the record..My 05 V-10 ran 3 years and 26K miles without a single problem.

I'm glad they got it fixed for you and you now are getting the performance it is supposed to provide. I know you were disappointed and perplexed as to why all the fuss about diesel. Now we know why.

Where did this post go awry? But I am glad that the "NEW" Ford is up to expectations.

Took my 2001 F-350 in last week. The thing with the diffeent colors is the old ones which are being recalled are made of a different color than the new ones.

Just had the CPS replaced today under the recall (only about a 25 minute job). For those of you who are interested, I asked about the difference in color and was told by my service rep that the metal bracket on the old ones (recalled) is gold in color and on the new replacement part the bracket is silver. Sure enough mine was the old style and the one I purchased as a spare and have been carrying around in the glove box is the old style as well. I think I will continue to carry it though just in case.
