shimmie,shimmie,shake

This is a strange problem. Lately while driving the tv (2006 F350 srw 4x4 6.0) I have been experiencing a serious shimmie during long turns on the freeway if I hit a significant bump. I must slow down to stop the shake. Has anyone else had this problem with their Ford 4x4's ? I wanted to get some feedback before I take it to the dealer and they tell me there is nothing wrong.

This is not a common problem on Fords but it is known to happen. It is called the "death wobble"
and some have fixed it with better shocks or a better steering dampers. I have never had it myself but if you go here
http://www.ford-trucks.com/

And do a search you will get some information that may help you . Good Luck.

How many miles on your 350? I have had some problems with some of my Fords 250 HD's with ider-arms and Pitman bearing on the steering
box.But we work our trucks to death, load them with pipe, tools, and trailer's.I have Fords,Chevys, and GMC,in my company. There all good, with there own little problems.

I have a 2005 F250 4x4 4dr long bed and had the problem a few months after I bought it, maybe 10K miles or so. I took it back to the dealer and there was something from Ford on this problem, not a recall. It was only an adjustment to the steering box & front-end which they did while I waited. Over 50K miles on it now and never had the problem again.

Garin, I had nothing like that in 85k miles on my 2005 Ford 4x4. The 2005 and later 4x4's have that new very strong front suspension. Something is not right with yours. Also, mine is the OffRoad and has the OEM Rancho shocks. It still has the originals at 85k miles and shows no signs of needing replacement. The Ranchos on mine have the red upper tube so you might see if yours has something different.

Hi Garin1, Not sure what your suggesting...I do get a thing called Highway Hop which is a sync of my tow setup to the plates of concrete sections. I have to modulate speed to stop the rythm and let my camping partners pull away until there is a change in road conditions. Had this happen with the longer tow setups from travel trailers to the 5er's and is more of a situation than specific highway....as I have hit prior bad sections with new setups that were bad but are now ok...

Charlie, I get that "hop" also when I am empty. This is something else. Steve, I agree that this is a serious issue and will get the tv to the dealer as soon as possible. Thanks everyone.
