Vanguard Brand

Looking at replacing stock tires that came on our new 2014 unit we just purchased and was at Big O tire....they can get us Goodyear G614's for 348 per tire but also had a house off brand by Vanguard for only 169 per tire....it is also a G rated tire. Has anyone heard or had experience with this brand of tire. Thanks

Here's a link to the thread currently asking the same question on rv.net: http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fu...d/27142715.cfm If they really only weight in the 48# range (similar to Marathons) I wouldn't put them on my rig on a bet. If you want an article on reserve capacity that went around the internet a few years ago send me an email and I'll forward it to you. That may help explain things a little.

To me tires are one of the most important items when it comes to safety. We went overboard. But for a reason.

I would suggest you not consider manufacturers or names that are obscure.

Too much riding on our tires....(pun intended)

Just like Dirty Harry said, 'You just have to ask yourself one question, Do I Feel Lucky?' The same goes with tires. You are betting the farm on unknown quality, or lack of. Another saying is what was previously said, 'You get what you pay for'. Again, the same goes for tires. If the tires you are looking at were that great, the tire dealer wouldn't be able to keep them in stock. But who knows? maybe they are really that good, but are you willing to be the guinea pig and risk your new rig? Life is one big risk, but tires on the trailer as well as the TV are the only things keeping these rigs up-right and rolling down the road. Go cheap on paper plates or beer or whatever, but tires are the thing you should not go cheap on. You'll sleep better at night not worrying about the tires.
