I towed a 25 foot SOB travel trailer once with a Ford Ranger. I tried to stop, locked up all 4 wheels and slid 10 foot past the driveway. I could move it, but not stop it

Your experience is the same as mine. We had a 1991 Ford Ranger V-6 and pulled a couple of light campers with it, Purchased a 1995 26 foot coachman TT hooked it up at the dealer and pulled it three exits down the interstate to a chevy dealer and said we need a bigger truck.
