Mounting fifth wheel hitch

Anyone with 2011, 3500 Dodge have any problem getting a fifth wheel mounted? I have been to two seperate RV dealers in central Ohio and into my second day at this Tom Raper place and still no luck. The service tech claims to not understand how to mount the plates to attach the rails. My fifth wheel is a Husky. I am kind of curious, thanks.

The dealer who sold me this superglide had no problem with the special mounting brackets for the frame. Dodge says no drilling holes in the frame. Thus the brackets. I would think they'd come with pretty specific directions. My Dodge is a 2007. The dealer was not an RV dealer, though. They specialize in truck parts including hitches. I'd suggest you find a hitch dealer to install it.

You could try contacting Husky and see if you can get instructions for installing them. I cant imagine they are much different than a 2010.

Also look on the Husky website to see if they have recommended dealers in your area.

Any equipt., tools, machinery are only as good as the hands that do the work. Find a Pro would be my suggestion.

My RV dealer got our Husky installed with no problem. I think it might be the technician not doing that brand before. An experienced dealer should not have a problem.

Like what's been mentioned CALL first, tell them what you have and go from there. Hopefully, it's not JUNIOR who can barely read instructions who works on it.

I do know the Husky fifth wheel uses a exterior frame bracket. I found this out when I was looking for a specific air bag system and couldn't buy it because of this mounting bracket. I had to go with the more expensive Firestone system because of it. No complaints and I love the air bags I have now, but maybe the problem is that the tech is not familiar with Husky.

I don't want to bad mouth Tom Raper but..... I have a 2003 Dodge 3500 with a Reese and special brkts were required at an additional cost over and above the cost of the hitch. I would think whoever sold you the hitch should know that. If Tom Raper can't figure it out, I'm sure there are professional hitch installers available to do the job.

Mounted the Reese 18k from my previous F350 on my 2010 3500. Bought this kit from etrailer, and did it myself. Not a hard project with the correct rail kit.

I guess that the Huskey rail set-up are different than Reese, although the rails that mount to the bed of the truck look the same one would think the mounting hardware under the truck between the frame and underside of the bed would all be the same, I guess there not. I think I would take it to a different company or camping world to install it, I like CW for there warintee on instalation " forever"

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions and many of you guessed right the plates for the 2011 Dodge does not work with the universal mounting kit. T. Rapers guys put it together today, the key was letting the fuel tank down a bit so they could do the mounting. We are ready to roll....so thanks again.

I just had my superglide installed in my 2011 Ram 2500. The Dodge installation kit from Pullrite with the universal rails was $900 and the install cost was $600 plus tax.

OUCH!!!
