Fulltime..

We are thinking about going full time. We live in TN and would sell our home. We do not want to buy anymore proptery. Can you get auto tags without showing proof that you have a valid address? We do not want to use the kids address for our home base. As they are very busy..One of many questions about going fulltime.
Any suggestions would be appreciated..

We are in process of changing state of rsidency to South Dakota and with SD you can use a mail forwarding address as legal address for DL, Tags etc. You might check with state as I do know several people who use TN as home base for tags because they are so resonable. Good luck. I'm sure you will find the decision to FT
liberating. Several choices for mail services are: Escapees, Good Sam, Americas Mailbox in SD, FMCA research state requirements of smog, fees , insurance costs, voting rights, how thy handle jury summions etc then choose the best one. Good Luck, Maybe we will see you on the road. DAVE and TERESA

Try this site for data on selecting a home base state. He has great info on a number of subjects, and is very helpful.

In most all states you can use your daughter's street address as your home address.
Ever since 9/11, Homeland Security requires everyone to have a street address. A PO Box no longer works especially for driver's licenses.

Send a message via MSN to Parrothead
We use Alternative Resources in Sioux Falls, SD. With them you have a street address and a PMB number. We have our DL's and vehicle registrations from SD using this address. SD does not have state income tax and licenses are very reasonable. AR forwards your mail monthly, weekly or more often if you want to pay for it. It has worked very well for us and much less expensive.
Happy trails...........................

We carry Tn. tags, Drivers Licence, Carry permits etc. Have a PO Box and use the address of our BIL business for voting.

We set up everything in Florida before we actaully set out. Used the St. Brendan's Isle mail forwarding service and filled out the forms declaring domicile in FL. Got registered to vote before we ever set foot in the state. Once we arrived we just traded in our CO drivers licenses and gave them our address assigned by St. Brendan's. There are a couple of paperwork hoops to jump through, but St. Brendan's had them all for us.

Check out the Escapees RV Club. There are a lot of full timers who have chosen to join this club because it gives you the option of mail service which gives you a permanent mailing address. This allows you to have everything licensed and insured in Texas, get your Texas driver's licenses and gives you a place to vote.

Whatever state you choose to select as your home address, remember that it is strictly a personal choice and you should not allow any of us to sway you one way or the other. All of the different states that are mentioned in this topic have their advantages and disadvantages. You choose.
