Should We Get A Generator?

My wife and I are about to order a 2955. The only option we are uncertain about is whether to get a generator. We understand that in most camping situations it wouldn't be needed. On the other hand, if might give us the option of stopping overnight in noncampgound situations (Wal-Mart, Cracker Barrel, etc.) as well as staying in some National Parks and campgrounds without electrical hookups. We’ve noticed in this forum that some Montana owners use a portable generator, while some others get one permanently installed. What are your thoughts about whether to get a generator or not? What is the best way to go – permanent or portable? Any advice offered will be greatly appreciated.
