Lake of the Ozarks Campgrounds

Does anyone have a recommendation for camping around the Lake of the Ozarks area? Would like to spend some time there in May.

You can't go too wrong with state parks: Lake of the Ozarks State Park, click here.

We stayed there. Lake of the Ozarks State Park Section 3. We had electric only at our site. We stopped at the dump station on the way in and filled up with water.
They have a lot of deer. They grazed right up to the rig. They weren't shy at all.
Nice park. Roads were a bit narrow.

It's been 40 years ago, but Lake of the Ozarks State Park is where I went to 4-H camp as a kid. Highly recommend, as I recall!

We are about 45 min from that area. A lot of things depend on what you are looking for.

If you are retired/disabled/current military, there is a military recreation area and campground called LORA: https://leonardwood.armymwr.com/prog...tion-area-lora

State campgrounds are usually the best bet. There are several to choose from depending upon where around the lake you want to get set up. https://mostateparks.com/campgrounds...rks-state-park

The state park is great. As I recall, the sites vary in size and can be uneven. It is an old park, and sites were laid out before the invention of slide outs. I believe you can view availability and pictures ofeach site online. It’s been several years since I was there, and they may have upgraded things.
