Travel to The Rally

I just wanted to remind everyone that this rally starts the week after Labor Day. If you are traveling a distance that requires camping along the way more than a day or two, take this into account. Campgrounds will fill up fast. My advice would be to find someplace to stay Friday, Saturday and Sunday night and avoid the mad rush. We are heading over Tuesday to get set to welcome people as they arrive. It is very difficult to find camping for a single night or two on a holiday weekend. And, especially popular campgrounds, probably won't want to do anything less than 3 nights. So, look at your calendar, figure out when you plan on arriving and think about getting reservations now if you can. We want everyone to have a good time at the rally. That is why we want you to arrive refreshed ready to take on the beauty of the Grand Lake area. Coming from the west, Grand Junction is a wonderful area and Palisade Peaches will still be available. From the south/east, the Colorado Springs, Canon City, and Castle Rock areas are scenic with lots of things to see and do. From the east and north, Fort Collins and the foothills have a lot to offer, especially if you like craft breweries. There is a campground two miles from our house, Western Ridge, that is at about 7,000 feet. Trail rides, hiking, fishing and shopping are abundant. If you do consider Western Ridge, tell Cheryl that you know Ron and Terrie. She will make sure you are welcomed. They have a pool, horse rides and a restaurant. I know other Rocky Mountain MOC members will have great suggestions for the other areas. We will be staying home for the Labor Day weekend, so if you are in the area, drop by.
