Steps - Lippert, MorRyde, Glow, or ???

Well, I've just completed the beta version of a home made system to make my OEM folding steps more solid. There's a lot of back and forth regarding the benefits of the Lippert and MorRyde systems. The Glow Step gets high marks but it's also quite expensive.

I was hoping to do something myself that offered the best of both worlds with folding steps for access no matter how tight the parking but also solid. Here's what I've come up with...I will still probably paint this flat black but this is the beta version. We haven't gone camping with these yet and I may need to tinker with the best way to clamps these to the steps.

I bought the square extruded aluminum from Amazon, a few stainless carriage bolts, washers, thumb turns, and hard rubber feet from ACE, and made the brackets out of coated flat steel. Painting will mitigate any galvanic reaction.

This allows me about 6" of adjustment. If that's not enough I can use blocks but I also have a plan B version that builds on this.

Here is the aluminum I bought:

Here's how it looks. Be kind...it's a work in progress:

They are quite sturdy, no movement. They feel as good to me as the Lippert or MorRyde
