Here is a install video for the DeeZee Tank which is the same process. As you can see the DeeZee tank sits higher than the bed whereas the ATI sits below

One of the best investments I've made. Went from a 26 gallon factory tank to a 52 gallon Titan tank and now I can chose where to refuel, and not be forced into it at a high price or poor location. For us, it was a great upgrade. The only drawback is that on my 2006 Silverado the gauges are now off by 1/2, but consumption is spot on.

I just have a tanker truck follow me around. Just like in the movies. It just pulls along side and the wife gets into the bed and grabs the nozzle and fills the tank. Just like in the movies.

No it (the fuel Gauge) is on the tank, My 2019 Ram 3500 has NO dash space available and I did not want to install a ugly gauge below the dash so I had ATI build it in the tank. You really do not need a gauge with a gravity flow as what matters is what is in your main tank. You should always use the fuel in your AUX tank 1st so that will keep your main tank showing full til the AUX is empty. So to answer your question you will know when your Aux is empty and still have 250-300 miles left. The Gauge on that tank is just a reference point for filling and what is left when I make my stops so as long as my main tank gauge shows full that is all that matters.

In my 2008 I swapped the 20 whatever Gal for a 52Gal, believe I got that back when I traded it in.

I had a 50 Gal Transfer Flow put in the 2018 (total 86 Gal) and love it, no issues with gauges, sits below the bed, takes up little room, pumps to level the tanks and someone else did it.


I figure it cost me $200.00 more to do that than to source everything, buy it, pay for the shipping, my time to put it in twice since it seams to never go right the first time and bandages.

I bought a tank similar to this from ATI(Aluminum Tank Industries out of Florida) but mine is the 51G version. I looked and researched it to death, as I have a tendency to do. For the S&B or Titan, the price versus the fuel I was getting just didn't compute well enough. The 51G ATI I bought was under $550 and I added a 12V electric valve and manual shutoff(in case of emergency) so I can fill while traveling. Now, before you say you shouldn't drive that long, I don't. I have an incredibly bad back and have to get out every so often and walk and I enjoy not having to find a fuel station that is full of trucks. A simple exit on the interstate or better yet, a rest area does great. I use it to mainly avoid buying the higher priced fuel on the interstates as I can usually make it to most campgrounds and then go to a high volume Wally, Racetrac, etc for a much lower price. Mine does stick up above the rails of the truck, but for me that was fine as I already have a low profile toolbox. I now have 88G theoretically, but I only count on about 80G for the trip. I'm not one of these that runs a truck low anymore after getting caught on an interstate for nearly 5 hours back in 2012 on a bad wreck. So, this works for me. Here's a couple of pics.

With the right app, yes you can make your gauge as close to accurate as possible. To me, with a gravity fed tank, it makes no difference what the gauge says until my transfer tank is empty and I am on my main tank. I never close the ball valve on my aux tank. My RDS tank came with a gauge installed from the manufacture. And as I said before, I would rather stop when I want to also, not because I have to.

golfmedik, have you considered putting some sort of shielding around the pump and valve? I'd be concerned that if I were carrying something small enough to go under the toolbox that it might fly forward in a sudden braking and damage or bust the line

I have a shield made from pressure treated 2x6 that fully surrounds the valves to protect them. I never took a pic of it because you really can't see it.

I have a question for those of you with a gravity feed aux tank. When both tanks are low, and you are re-fueling, does it matter which tank you fill first?
Also, my 2019 Ram does not have a fuel cap. It has the push through check valve. Anyone have any issues with the aux tank back flowing out that filler neck?

You need to fill the stock tank first as the feed from the aux tank is a very slow trickle/stream of fuel. With the aux tank fill kit there is no worries of back flowing through the cap. There is a float ball valve in the T fitting of the kit. When fuel reaches this ball valve (before it gets to the cap) it shuts off the valve and stops the flow from the aux tank. Simple and it works perfectly when installed correctly.

As mentioned above that is not an issue for gravity feed however it is a issue for a active pump system. I have gravity now but the F350 I recently traded had the electric pump, the switch was a timer (like a bathroom fan timer) that was so it was not left on, because while driving you cannot hear the pump and over filling can be come an issue.

After have both pump and gravity feed I much prefer Gravity fed.... There is NO benefit to electric pump just another system to potentially fail, maintain or cause issues (over filling). Gravity fed just turn valve on and forget about it it is automatic...

As said above, gravity feed is the only system I would have. The KISS method is better for most everything.

Just put a tank in the truck bed! Get one as big as you need and it will cost less! I put a 69 gal in my truck and I have moved it from truck when I trade!

Be careful a tank that size will put most SRW over payload when towing 35' or more, that is a lot of weight. Bigger does not always mean better.
