New Chrysler program - $2.99 gas for 3 yrs

This is interesting... $2.99/gal for new Dodge Cummins???

Wonder if they would apply this to truck (diesel) purchases??? Truck sales are going worse than car sales.

This program is for 12,000 miles a year at the rated mileage for each praticular vehicle.

$2.99 gas for next 3 yrs

Starts tomorrow. Good on purchases/leases starting tomorrow thru June 2nd.

If it spurs auto sales, then they will likely try it on trucks. Basically a catchy way of offering about a $1000 rebate on a new car purchase, but paid out over 3 yrs instead of up front.

Unless, gas prices continue to go up...

Price of oil this morning has already hit $122/bbl. The potential for Chrysler to give away more than a $1,000 rebate is rather large I fear.

I got to believe that it would indeed spur sales. However, I would want to have a REAL GOOD grip on projected oil/gasoline pricing for the next 3 years before I put my company out on a limb like that. Can't believe that Chrysler, or anyone else, has any kind of a super crystal ball that can even foretell what next week will bring - let alone three years from now.

If I had a choice as a consumer, I would certainly take the price cap on gas and forgo any $1,000 rebate right now - even if it is for the first 12,000 miles per year. Wouldn't even think twice about it.

While I think it's kinda of risky for an auto company to be trying this strategy at this particular time, I'd love to see it carry over to trucks, including diesel pickups.
