2024 Montana 3132RL - Freshwater capacity

Hi,

I was under the impression we have 70 gal freshwater capacity.
As we use the Monti at the moment of the grid I was confused that I could not get more 6 gal jugs into the freshwater tank and bought a flow meter.

Attached results after filling my empty freshwater tank.

Am I missing something?
Best idea I have that the hot water tank is calculated into the 70 gal

The spec has changed from 66 to 70. The tank is 50 and the rest is in the water heater and lines. So only about 50 easily usable.

The 2024 specs online say 70 GALLONS!
I scrolled thru past models just to compare…
2023 models - 70 gals
2022 2021 2020 - 66 gals
2019 and older were 66 gal

I had the same revelation with my 2022 3131CK…fresh tank full at about 51-52 gallons. Learned that the water heater (12 gal) is included in the 70 calculation, but still find it hard to believe that the missing 6-7 gallons could. E on the water lines, but that’s what I understand. Frustrating as so many other similar RVs from other companies have far larger tanks all around.

3 gallons of pink fills my water lines and then some. Never measured how many gallons of water to fill the tank.

On my 2019 the spec sheet shows 66 gallons fresh water "capacity", which I learned was 12 gal in the water heater, 52 gal in the fresh tank and 2 gal in the lines. It is quite misleading and it seems most salespeople don't realize that either.
Your flow meter seems spot on with my experience.

Same here flow meter fill fresh water 50-51, 12 gallon water heater & a couple gallons in the lines = 66 2019 3121RL

Our 2022 3121RL also advertised 66 gallons. I could not get more than about 35 gallons of useable capacity from the fresh tank. I've measured 12 gallons in the water heater, but only about 1/2 half to 1 gallon in the water lines. It didn't add up. I ripped open the belly to find out why.

I was very disappointed at what I found: a 40 gallon fresh tank that was so poorly installed with a sagging belly so that almost 5 gallons of water was stagnant and couldn't be drained or sucked up by the water pump!

I then installed lateral braces to fix the sagging belly so I could use all 40 gallons. That's still disappointingly little capacity, so I decided to use the cavernous empty space in the belly to install a second 40 gallon water tank. We now have 80 gallons of fresh water plus 12 in the water heater, and I added a 0.7 gallon accumulator tank that reduces the cycling of the water pump with a side benefit of making it almost silent.

I've attached a picture where I tried to get perspective of how badly sagging the water tank was.

With the larger water heater of 16 gallons over the 12 gallon version they bumped it up to 70 total from 66. Too bad you can only get a consistant 42 ish gallons from it while boondocking. But best thing I did was add a 5 gallon expansion tank on the output of the pump. It helps in so many ways it should come that way from the factory.
