Converter-373RD -2020

Wanted to upgrade to lithium batteries. The inverter does not have the LI/LA SWITCH. Progressive Dynamics says there is a way on the converter to change output.

Some disassemble required.

We’ll see.

Best of luck, hope it works. You will love lithiums. Lighter weight, less space, less voltage drop and less time to charge. The only negative is the price.

I have a PD4575K18LS8 converter. It is not Lithium ready. I have been using it on my Lithium batteries for over two years now. By itself it doesn't quite get the batteries to 100%. Using the Charge Wizard mode button and putting it in boost mode Topps them off.
I also have solar panels with the MPPT set to lithium mode. They also keep the battery topped up.
I have no plans to change the converter.

as daryles said you can still charge the lithiums by using the mode button on your PD4575K18LS8 i also changed to lithiums and do not have a lithium ready converter/charger i called progressive and the tec told me either i had to change the unit out which is expensive or i could use the mode button to fully charge the lithiums like daryles said. here is a link for the mode button https://www.progressivedyn.com/wp-co...rd-Pendant.pdf

I have the exact same situation with my 2020 3120RL. I had no luck with a phone call and an email to Progressive Dynamics on my converter/Charger. After a ridiculous amount of digging on their website I found a document that shows the simple switch to Lithium. See page 4 of the attached link. I just did mine with a set of needle nose pliers and I should be good to go! Good luck!

I just received a call from a technician at PD. He suggested that it was 100% fine to leave the converter set for lead acid batteries and the Lithiums will charge to 80 ish%. Pushing the boost gives it additional charge for four hours. I will stay with that rather than a constant 14.6 volts as there is no two stage charger with this modification.

Leonard, am I reading this right that on the factory converter we just need to remove the two 30 amp fuses and it will charge lithium batteries? I have a 2019 trailer

No, pulling the fuses is part of the troubleshooting procedure to check DC voltage. In addition to troubleshooting procedure, the document (page 4 & 5) describes a jumper that changes the output voltage. Jumper on L1 side for lithium; jumper on WIZ side for lead acid.

There are a lot of different models of the Progressive Dynamic converters; it appears the 4600 has this option. My PD converter is a 4500; does not have this option; it is lithium only. Some PD converters have a switch instead of a jumper. Verify which model you have.

Scott is 100% correct that removing the fuses is only for a DC test. Just jump the 3 pin header as displayed to "LI" on the bottom of page 4 to fully charge lithium batteries.

As it turns out, I left mine on "WIZ" which is to charge lead acid batteries. My lithium batteries will charge to 80%, which is fine for my situation. If I am boondocking I have a REDARC 50 amp DC/DC charger set to lithium so that I can charge to 100%.

I hope this all makes sense!
