Canadian family of three going full time

Hi everyone. We are a family of three that have never even owned a 5thwheel or trailer. Our family owned property is being sold so we decided to have a 2025 montana 3915tb made. It is currently being built and we are so excited and nervous as well. We will be moving into our new home mid October. We are putting it on a property and will have a mini septic system and a power hook up. We are going to skirt it and put a roof over it as well as a deck. I just wanted to say hi and I'm so happy I found this group.

Any advice for extremely new bee's would be greatly appreciated ❤️

Welcome and enjoy. Just be prepared for winter in Canada. I would suggest you get a couple small heaters to help with the furnace. Make sure your skirting has some insulation that will also help. Campers do not hole heat like a house. Insulate your water line coming into the camper.

Thank you all for welcoming us to the moc. We finalize our 5thwheel on Thursday October 24th and then move in on Nov 1st. We are excited and nervous but ready for our next journey. She is a beautiful unit! We are moving out if a house that was built in the 1800s so having this brand new beast is going to be awesome. I'm sure I will be on here asking a ton of questions.

Welcome! We are new too! Just getting started probably moving into our 5th wheel Montana November 1st too. Like you, this is new for us so we also are excited but a little nervous. We too, welcome input and suggestions . One thing we are considering is getting a washer and dryer since we will be doing this full time possibly for a couple of years. Does anyone have experience with having a washer and dryer? Thanks much!

Get the washer and dryer! DW loves ours...but I sure miss reading old People's magazines (from 2016!) in the campground laundry rooms while doing the laundry...NOT!

Be sure to get separate washer and dryer - not the combo washer/dryer.

You should be okay, given where you live in Canada. Vancouver Island is about as warm as it gets in winter in this country. Lots of rain though so your cover is a good addition. Still, be prepared to spend a lot on propane. See if the local propane company will rent you a couple of large tanks and come to fill them. And as already mentioned, an electric heater would be a good backup.

Your learning curve will be very steep! Don't hesitate to ask questions here. If you think something is broken or not working correctly, always look for the easiest fix first.

Enjoy your new rig.

Tomandlori, I have no experience with W/Ds. But several years ago I read comments on here about them. Some of the dryers had no outside ducting, so the temps couldn't get too hot or the rig would heat up. So they said it took all day to dry a sheet or such. Something to consider.

We had a Splendide vented combo washer/dryer in ours for 14 years. Never a problem with it and wife loved it. Served us well as sometimers. But separate units would be best for full timers. But definitely get a vented dryer.

I agree with the washer and dryer (stackable), and get the vented dryer. We installed the W/D a couple years after we purchased our Montana. Our Montana is our 5th RV and never had a W/D before. The difference having one was phenomenal! No more time spent at laundry mats or dragging dirty laundry from camper to house any more. Smaller loads, no piles of laundry stacked up, and when things get wet they can be popped into the dryer immediately and dried out, no more hanging "stuff" around to dry, being in the way.

If you build a cover over your camper, you might consider building on a separate laundry room under the cover. That's something to think about.
