heading to florida from philly

I want to avoid I-95 at all costs. What are your thoughts on the best route to take.Looks like from what i see route 301 will take me all the way down to Florida.I`am guessing route 1 will also get me their.

Any info would be great.I`ll be traveling with just my dog so its a little daunting just with little old me at the wheel.

John:
We run the Florida trip as follows:
RT-81 to RT-77 to RT-26 to RT-95 just above Savannah Georgia. This brings you into Florida by Jacksonville.

Good traffic and scenic but you have the 7 mile hill on RT-77 to handle. I've never had a problem going this way and there are good close campgrounds to overnight at.

John, where in Florida and when?

One route I tried was to take I95 into Del. and pick up 895 just south of Newark, DE. Follow 895 to 301. Follow 301 thru MD and into Virginia. At Bowling Green, VA pick up 207 and back to I95. This route will take you around the maze and horrendous traffic of Baltimore and DC.

Thanks Steve & Gleen for some good info.

Glenn right now I`am considering 2 camp grounds. One is called "Southern Oaks RV Resort" this is in Summerfield,FL.Very close to the "Villages"

The other one is called "East Lake Fish Camp" this one is close to Orlando International Airport.

My last day at work is September 30th.I plan on heading down to Florida either the 1st or 2nd of October.I already know as of now I can get a stop at East Lake Fish Camp.As far as Southern Oaks I`am not sure yet, hopefully they will have room for me.We shall see.
