do I have eouugh truck ?
Last year I bought a 2006 Dodge one ton dually diesel with automatic
I do not know what gears are in the rear end (looked all over for a
sticker or info on build sheet.no luck) Im interested in buying a 3400 rl
or a 3400 big sky. A dealer here in Arizona says I need a bigger truck. I thought this truck should be able to pull both. Do I have to go shopping again. thanks in advance for your input.

Should be a sticker inside the glove box door that says the rear end ratio. You truck will tow any Montana you want to hook up to it. That's just my opinion.

I cant imagine what size truck the dealer thinks you need to own to tow a Montana?? I am with the rest of the folks, your truck will handle the job.

Is this same dealer "trying" to sell you a bigger truck??? Your truck will pull any Monty out there.

That dealer is nuts. That truck will pull just about anything. It's big enough for a Montana.

Shredder 500: I have the same truck you do (assuming you have the 3500 quad cab); 5.9L diesel, auto, 2006 year; I have the 3.73 rear diff; it pulls all 13800 pounds of trailer and equipment without any problem at all. Not the fastest off the line and it will downshift on the hills but I haven't found any need for the 4:10 rear end in traveling to Tx, NM and CO this past year. Went out to West Virginia year before last with 2004.5 of the same type and had no problems either. Now that all said, do look into an exhaust brake (the 2006 auto is the first that can have one with automatic); definitely helps on some of the downhills. Not as good as with the 6-speed standard trans but does help keep the speed in check with some braking.

Schredder_500,
There are two correct answers to your question. Pick the one you like the best, because they are both right.
(a) As Orv said, that dealer is nuts. Your Dodge is more than enough for any Keystone product in the book. Check the specs, you shall see. I would find another dealer
(b) The Dealer is 100% Correct: As long as there is a bigger truck available, your's just became too small. You need the new F450!! Heck, maybe the Custom F650!! He was just trying to help you justify a new truck. Great guy, maybe all of us should go see him and get the OK to upgrade...

I have the Dodge 2006 Truck Specifications Guide book here beside me.
I also bought a 2006 RAM 3500 Quab Cab 4X4 LB Dually with a 410 gear.
Here is what the official guide says:
GVWR = 12,200
GCWR = 23,000
Max trailor wt = 15,500
Payload = 4,830
If you have a different configuration tham me let me know and I will gladly provide you with the numbers for your TV.

Your dealer is confused...a dually is the perfect TV for a 3400. The rear end is irrelevant...either one Dodge offers will work fine.

I agree, duallies are built for big fivers like the 3400 and with a Cummins you have a stump puller with every rear end choice they give you.
