Adjusting Brakes
I was wondering if it is normal to have to adjust the brake controller everytime you hook up to the RV after being set-up for a week or so? Seems everytime I hook up, I have to do some adjusting. Am I doing something wrong?

That doesn't sound right - unless you are bumping the controls and moving them when you're not towing. I've never had to readjust mine when hooking up.

I agree with Brad, as long as you are pulling the same trailer, it should stay set. I'm constantly adjusting mine, but only because I'm constantly changing trailers. As long as I stay with one, I don't have to re-adjust.

After the trailer has been sitting for a while, it might take a few miles of driving to get the rust off of the brake drums for the magnets to fully engage & shoes to grab properly. But like above never have to change brake settings. Manually adjust trailer brakes every 8,000 miles.

A while back I called Prodigy and asked the same question. The lady said the settings will remain the same as the last time they were set unless power is removed from the controller. I was going to have some work done on my truck and took the Prodigy out...and had to reset it when I put it back in.

I do not have to adjust my controller either. The only time I have "adjusted" the controller is when I had set off for a 7 week trip and added a great deal of weight to the coach. Had it adjusted by the 2nd stop sign, the rest of the 7,000 miles went off without any further adjusting.

The only time I could see that you reset would be if you have added some really additional weight or taken a lot of weight out of the unit. In either case I agree with Montana Sky in that any adjustments should be made quickly and only very minor increase or decrease.

I've used a lot of controllers over the years. The Prodigy and the Ford builtin controller are the only ones that didn't require readjustment when cold and again when the brakes warmed up. There may be others that I haven't tried that don't require adjustment. You didn't say what kind of controller you have. If the Prodigy or builtin Ford then you should be able to set it once and forget it from then on.
