through Chicago

We need to go thru Chicago towards Minneapolis, MN tomorrow. How is the best way to go thru chicago. Map quest showed 94 thru downtown, I think that is not even an option

We are no fans of that area, when necessary, used the beltway, 294.

We did really enjoy Minneapolis tho!

Weren't you 2 just in Boston???

We always come in from the south side of Chicago.. As far south as possible and then go up I-39 ... That will connect right back to I-94 right into Mpls.

Paul, stay on I-80 over to I-39 then head north on 39. It will take you up through Rockford and into Wisconsin. You will pickup I-90 as you go around Rockford, at Madison you will pickup I-94. from Madison north Portage you will be on I-39, I-90,I-94. stay on I-90 and it will take you right to Minneapolis... we made it thru chicago--should have gone on 39 but someone decided that 294 would be good. in some construction but the worst was a semi truck that had traffic stopped up because his front wheel fell off or he had a blowout or something. Got in a horrific rainstrom just on the east side about 6 miles from the end of the turnpike--could not see more than 50 feet ahead--afraid to stop because someone might hit us from the back--all the trucks were going slow so we just sort of kept with them--Am I glad that is overI had a better idea than him

Glad you made it thru that mess.. If you are going to Willmar, I suggest you get on I-90 instead of 94 and by-pass Mpls entirely.. Wind your way from Rochester to Mankato on 14 continue on past Sleepy Eye til you get to 71 right into Willmar.. These are all good roads to tow the Monty on and we have done it several times.. Sometimes getting thru Minneapolis can be worse than Chicago.

Thanks Helen, if we do this again from the the east we will try your way. 94 wasn't too bad, but it was 2 pm when we went thru--went out on 7 to Lake Lillian and then north
