B&W hitch head on a Reese Slider hitch

I have a 16K Reese Slider hitch. I took the Reese head to a shop that installs hitches and they told me that it could cost about $300 to repair the head. One of the jaws moves a significant amount because one of the bars is bent. Because of the repair cost I feel it would be better to buy a new head. After reading a few posts it sounds like a number of MOC members like B&W better than Reese. I'm not totally happy with the
Reese hitch, so if it is workable I woul like to try a B&W hitch head. Has anyone done anything like this and if so does it work well?

Pls advise

They have rail type hitches and puck style hitches now, not sure if one of those would fit your current rail or puck configuration though. You could call them and see, nice guys at B&W and very helpful over the phone.

If not one of the abouve types, you could opt to get the B&W turn-over ball hitch(Goose-neck hitch) installed under the truck bed (with 4" drilled hole in the bed),

AND the 20k B&W Companion 5th wheel

That way you could haul a goose-neck trailer if ever needed, too.

David, I have a B&W hitch. I love it. They have a non-slider that will mount into your bed rails called a Patriot. A friend just bought one and loves it. It is a smaller version rated @ 16K instead of the normal 18/20K

I do not think there any cost effective way to put a B&W head on a Reese.

I would refer back to how many times have you really needed your slider function on your Reese?

I have a B & W Hitch and I really like the hitch. Easy to hook up the truck and take the truck off. Seems to handle better. I recommend this hitch, you won't be disappointed.

I have the B&W turn-over ball hitch (Goose-neck) hitch in my 2015 F250 short bed crew cab to pull a goose neck cattle stock trailer. To pull my Big Sky I use a B&W Companion hitch mounted on the ball hitch. Do not need a slider hitch and have plenty of room to make any turn pulling or backing. Very easy to mount and remove the Companion hitch from the ball hitch. The best part is there are no rails in the bed when the Companion hitch is removed.

Thank you for all the feedback on the B&W hitch. I took my Reese hitch head to a Reese dealer and they will speak with Reese whether they will replace the hitch head under the lifetime warranty. If Reese doesn't replace the hitch head under warranty I will buy the B&W Patriot hitch and install it on the existing rails.

B&W warranty......

I had a issue with the base on my companion. I took a few pics and emailed them to KANSAS... I got a phone call later that same day, asked me to cut the base into 2 parts, sent pictures after cutting the base into 2 parts, new improved base shipped next day.

Took a total of 2 days to get it handled. Service like this is why I will be a B&W customer for life.

Just want to provide an update. Today I picked up a brand new 16K Reese head for the Reese slider. Reese agreed that my original 16K would be replaced under warranty, so I guess I'll have to wait a bit before I get he B&W hitch. If this new hitch head chucks and clanks too much I most likely will sell it and buy a B&W.
