Generators

Hey folks,

Thought I would go to the experts. I need a "portable" generator for my house. Noise is not a great issue, but....reliability is. Have looked at 7000 to 10000 watts. A whole house, integrally wired automatic would be nice, but I am not looking to spend 8 to 12 grand.

I bought a Honeywell 12kw from Costco for $2,200. Although it is not portable it is a great addition to the house. I installed it myself and it runs on Natural Gas or Propane.. is has the tranferswitch with it.

Stiles my brother bought a 20,000 watt unit for about $4500 fully auto propane unit. Then he had to have it installed. All for under $5000.

Buddy of mine had a whole house unit installed. Runs on natural gas. The unit cost was just under $5,000 and he claimed the install was pretty cheap.
