Internet radio...how much data
I see lots of people using their I-phones and smart phones to broadcast radio stations. I used to do that too when Verizon had unlimited data. How much data does it use when playing internet radio. I have a 4 gig plan right now and when we are on the road and both of us using laptops we usually go over a little. So how much more data would I need to run a smart phone??

Not sure on the data as we have sat radio's in both vehicles and on Dish in the rig, but you need to check with Verizon they have new plans and I just got 2.4 TIMES The data for the same money by changing my plan. I was tipped off by another poster on this forum a few days ago.

I use pandora on my phone. Not on a constant basis. I have used it about 10 hours a month and used under a third of a gigabyte. If you have Verizon and an android phone, don't know about apple, there is an app to put on your screen that shows a small use gauge and is very accurate. It updates daily or you can click on it and get instant use.I hope I explained it correct...

Yes, by all means check your Verizon account. You could significantly increase your data at little or no cost. We do believe though, that the new plans are only offered for a limited time.

Could you elaborate on the "limited time" increase of data at little or no cost, please? In checking w/ Verizon, there is a $10. per month fee for extra incremental Gigs. Is that what you are referring to? And I don't believe this is limited, just the normal price. If I have this wrong, I'd like to know and thanks for the input, very helpful.

No what we are talking about is totally new plans. My old 18g plan is no longer in existence and I now have a 40g plan for $10.00 per month more.

Thanks Dick, you're doing some serious Gigs. Thanks for the calculator, really handy. As a recent Roku purchaser, I do most of my stuff at the S&B, but wondering if anybody else is doing Roku, besides the Internet Radio? I know it is discourteous to hog bandwidth and realize that video does not play well on wifi. On the other hand, I've been known to watch some Amazon Instant Video, after taking the new puppy out for his 2am tinkle. Works great about that time.

Thank you DQ. We just got off the phone with Verizon and went to the 40G plan. Going to the 30G plan would have been no increase in price at all and the 40G plan was only 20.00 per month more. We will cancel our DSL line here at the stick house as 40G of date will cover us all year. we will wind up with a all over savings of 40.00 per months..
we were paying 130.00 per month for 16G and going to 30G was the same price. We went to 40G for 20.00 increase. We can drop back if that turns out to be to high. Yes we use a lot of data ....so be it.
