basement storage doors

I have had the shock brackets reinstalled several times at the dealer but the screws are coming out again. Anyone have a good way to install the screws so that they will stay in.

Did this to ours over a year ago, haven't loosened up yet. Machine screws holding the bracket to the aluminum and stainless steel sheetmetal screws through the aluminum into the door.

Once again, the solutions to this extremely common problem are hidden by the broken Search function. There has been lots of discussion and suggested repairs. Calling Montana Customer Service usually elicits a response of "... gee we haven't heard of this before...".

Here is one thread with couple of ideas including rohrmann's.

keystones fix was to glue them to the door and add a screw or two . Our fix was like rohrmann. Not pretty but the door no longer falls on my noggin.

#12 sheet metal screws are still holding going on three years for us now. Less than a dollar invested with my time.
