Will It Work?

I needed a canopy for my tractor so I put some hillbilly ingenuity together today and came up with a solution that literally saved me hundreds of $$$$. I used a large golf umbrella and a few pieces of PVC pipe. I have less than $20.00 in cost for the material used. I figured I saved about $500.00 based on recent pricing of tractor canopies. The center piece will tilt forward to adjust the shade or it will stand the umbrella back against the row bar. A bungee cord can be used to hold the umbrella more stable and keep it in place avoiding any problems with the wind. I haven’t had a chance to try it out but hopefully it will pass the test.

Think it’ll work?

The only thing I would worry about is gaining too much speed on a downhill run and the Mary Poppins effect that could occur. If I see an airborne tractor coming from the west, I will know what happened!

Bill, great job. It reminded me of the old Red Green show back in the 90's where Red was a ducktape "master".

Looks good. Definitely a significant savings over what I paid for one.

Bingo

Hey Bingo if I tied a few helium balloons to it would I get better fuel mileage? Oh wait a minute remember the guy in the lounge chair? Hummm, guess I better not!

I’m not beyond using duct tape, it may even look good!
I bet Red Green has inspired many ideas!

Red Green could put pontoons on the tractor for amphibious bush hogging.

You could put helium in the tires, Bill, it could be the first edition of a new tractor designation like the Montana's have come out with! Maybe if you had used aluminum instead of the PVC you could maybe sell it to Keystone also. Good job by the way! I've got to do something to my compact this year to get something over my head to block the sun also. May consider you idea is it patented yet?
