Not sure what slide type was used in 2005 but on my 2012 there is a gear and shaft that runs from the drive mechanism (ram) side to the other end of the slide or at least part way. I have seen the sheer pin/bolt break on one of those gears and the two ends of the slide will not go out or come in evenly.

There is a possibility of binding on one end as well but for sure the slide will not go out evenly if the sheer pin/bolt is broken
