Memorial Day Campgrounds
We just returned to Phoenix from a quick trip to Albuquerque ($500.00 of diesel). We spent last year in the same campground , hidden Valley, just east of the Duke city. I was amazed at how relatively empty the campground was. Last year most sites were full. This year it looked like 50 to 60% occupancy at most. True, the weekend started out cold but I bet a bigger reason is fuel cost.
I also noted that traffic seemed to be down overall. We did see a lot of fivers on the road but a gut feel says the population was down.

PS, we are staying closer to Phoenix this year but only partially because of fuel cost. Turns out one of our kids is going in for surgery and momma wants to be close by -- Maybe a fall trip will be in order....
