Questions about in command

Reading posts can be worrisome....
Ordered our 3120 which is due in mid June. Ordered both the solarflex and the Legacy package, wanting the disc brakes, camera's, and surge protector, the rear cap and power cord reel are so-so on my desire list, but the In Command has me worried. I like manual switches, they can be pulled out of the wall installation and jumped if one fails, and it is an easy, quick setup. And the Gen prep, and transfer switch, is a negative for me, but Sam L says it can't be removed from the Legacy package, too difficult to opt-out in the assembly line. I was thinking of opting out of both In Command and the Gen prep, but the Legacy Pkg would be a waste of $, it seems Independent suspension with Disc brakes is a better use of funds after the delivery.

The In Command seems to need more time to fire it up, locate the touch switches, and seems to, like some electronic devices need rebooting. I don't see us using the phone to control features, but I do believe the In Command allows the heater controls the be like a house for setting the heater, vs my old trailers slider control which I have always wanted to change to a home-style with pre-set times like before waking up.

I see a lot of problems searching here and the net, rebooting, from the factory wiring issues, etc. I have watched In Command operation video's, but haven't really seen the " huge advantages" of this system.

Am I afraid of nothing, or is the In Command a disapointment for others who have experience using the system?

Thank you

Allen

We had the same feelings and so opted out of getting a Legacy in our 2017. We added IS and Disk brakes and are very happy with our choice and our switches. Others will have different experiences and opinions, but old school works for us.

I was not sold on In Command when we got ours. I now love the system. Ours has worked very well and I find it very handy. Can be sitting outside and the wind comes up. Nice to be able to grab the phone and retract the awnings without going in. Can hit the awning lights in the evening as it gets dark. Can change temp settings from bed. I have been surprised how much I use it. I know it sounds really lazy but it is in fact very helpful to be able to do things from multiple locations.

I now really like this feature. I think the Legacy package is a good value for the number of useful things that are included. That has been my experience. Good luck with your decision

We’re with DTH. Love the Legacy package & IN•Command system. No issues with ours at all. There was a software update this spring that made some nice improvements to the IN·Command. Love the looks of the rear cap over the boring flat wall. Looks much better in our opinion. The surge protector is just that, not an all-encompassing EMS, so we transferred the EMS from our old MHC to the new unit. We don’t need the generator prep/transfer switch, but you don’t really know it’s there unless you open the front compartment. Ours came with the full body paint & that’s the BEST option ever. WAY better than gel coat & decals.

What updates or new features were in the update? I looked for release notes on their website and didn’t see anything. I plan to do the update in the next few days.

It added the ability to activate the 4 accessory triggers to control 12v circuits. I used this to be able to turn on my onboard air compressor via a 12v relay. Also added the ability to have tank level alarms to alert you of low/high tank levels. Ours is a 2019 unit, so the software was a bit simplistic prior to the update.

Thank you all, sounds like I'll not try and change my order.

Tom, is there an article / post on the added switching you did, sounds like something I should consider doing down the road.

There is a little information on the triggers in the owner’s manual. Make sure you get the manual for the Global Connect version of the IN•Command. I used the iN·Command to trigger a relay to put power to the air compressor. If you take the cover off the iN·Command in the basement, there are 4 blank connections to use for the triggers. Then you have to go into the settings on the control panel inside & enable them. Pretty simple process if you’re at least a little mechanically & electronically inclined.

Thanks again Tom

Should be something I can figure out. I mainly dislike electrical issues when there are multiple component options, discussions on them all, and I can't decide which route to go . The rest is easy once you understand it and say " lets do it. Bar the door Katie"

In Command

We have a 2020 3761FL. Legacy, solar, gen. I use it all the time from my phone, never a issue, very convenient. Little things like adjusting the thermostat when in a cozy bed. Traveled over 12,000 miles our first year. Definitely a pluse

Allen, we got ours two weeks ago. No glitches with In-Command so far. The other night it got kind of cold. Reached for my phone, turned heat on and back to sleep. I turned off the password so we can just go to the screen and turn things on/off. You can raise and lower unit from truck if need be. So far, I like it.

I like gadgets so In Command interested me. As it turns out I use it all the time from my phone, starting the generator, putting out the awning, putting out the slides, all without having to go inside. The best thing is control of the HVAC, like it cool at night and don't have to get up to to turn the heat on in the morning.

I have In Command on my 3120 Legacy and love it. I Never had a problem with it. It's convenient, especially since you can download an app to your phone and do the same things from the phone as from the command center.

Question for anyone using In-Command system with Global Connect. My 2022 Legacy is parked at our home base RV 55+ community, I have permanent cable internet at the site as well as security cameras on my shed which run 24/7. So my question is occasionally my In-Command will remotely display "Warning RV off line" however I have complete access of all other on line devices at my site. On the weekends when I return to the site i have to restart the In-Command system to regain remote control via the Iphone app. Any ideas if I have setup something wrong or what else I should try. I have had remote connection to the RV for many weeks without incident and then suddenly goes off line. I also have a UPS connected to the cable interment equipment.
Thanks - Tom

Mine throws that error from time to time but does reconnect. Is your router in your rig? I'd try setting reserving an IP address in your router for your IC system.
