5th Airborne
I pulled the old pinbox of the Montana today. The new Airborne slip up into place with no trouble and all 18 holes lined up. I am going to get 12 Grade 8 bolts as suggested by 5th Airborne for mounting and probably use some of the old bolts to fill in rest of the holes. And thanks Garyka for your info on the install. We will test it out in two weeks.

Don, could you tell me what model number 5th A pin box you purchased? I have been of the opinion I was sold the wrong one. It would only go up 2 holes and the top would come right up to the cross member and I could never get the airbag adjusted right. Also do you know the pin box number that came on your rig? Mine is a 2007 2955RL but should be the same. Thanks.

Bob,
We had trouble getting ours in place bacause of the welds on the frame of the Monty. The box fit, but it was tough to push up past the welds. CW used a sledge (gulp).
BTW - Your 2955 most likely had the Lippert 1621 pinbox from the factory.

Brad the Pinbox was a Lippert 1716. The 5t Airborne site has a cross over chart.

The problem I had was that Lippert mislabeled my OEM pin box...the one on the Montana was not what is said it was on the label attached to it, so the 5th Abn that was ordered was for the wrong Lippert model.

Tom, I had the same problem so had to order by the measurement guide on their website. Apparently I still ended up with the wrong pin box as it can't physically be installed to the top holes as the original was.

Don, I did shortly after I bought it because I wasn't able to get the air pressure up to what the directions said. I could only adj the location of the bag half way because of interference to the air valve. When I called them they got together with one of the engineers and determind I needed a different airbag and shock which they sent and I installed. I tried several adjustments over a period of time but was never really happy with it. When I called again they were in the middle of a company reorganization and the person I talked to wasn't much help and assured me that I had the right one. But now I find I don't have the right one and I'm out of the warranty. So I have to live with it.
