RV Life ads are getting annoying

Anyone else find the Ads from RV Life getting more aggressive?

YES! Now starting to get popups at the bottom of screen. These ads do nothing more than p*** me off.

Take your pick, you pay for this site or let someone else pay for it.
I advertise on two gun sites all the time. It’s very effective and cheap, $1000 per year per site. It’s keeps your name in front of your customers and I get thousands of hits on my web site. What we can do to help the management here is click on these sites. Every time we do it’s recorded and the advertisers know how interested we are in this site.

Sorry about the ads. We made a few changes that make them much more noticable. Primarily we moved the ad that was at the way bottom into a sticky ad that hangs out in front. It's designed so that you can dismiss it by clicking on the X at the right. Once you click on the X it will go away for 24 hours. So you can read hundreds of pages and will not see the bottom footer ad again until 24 hours later. Then a single click and once again it will dismiss that ad.

The impetus for this change is that so many people use ad blockers that it chips away at the ability to offer free ad supported services like these. One idea we are thinking about is having an upgraded membership level where you pay a small annual fee and then can turn off the ads. Ideally we could then give away upgraded accounts to members to say thanks for being active contributors to the discussions. This way we could reward the folks who help keep the community vibrant and the lurkers and guests would would support the cost to run the site through ads.

For now, just remember to click the X on the bottom right ad when you arrive and it will pretty much be the way it was before.

Actually, RV LIFE is not owned by vBulletin. vBulletin is the company who built the forum software that this site utilizes.

A few years ago we adopted the site and spent a lot of time and effort to port over the old site to better software (see screenshot below).

RV LIFE is a new "brand" we are calling the network of websites that we operate. Your RV LIFE ID allows you to login to any of the forums or services that are part of the RV LIFE network.

So RV LIFE is really a small little boutique business run by RVers for RVers.

Once again, apologies about the ad changes. I hope they work so we can continue to provide a great service at no cost.

It does not bother me it is a small thing and it pays for the site that is FREE to us.

I find the ads to be a pain in the rear. Ads across the top, ads down the right side, ads "you might also like" across the bottom prior to the quick reply area. I would say all this is being brought by the same people addicted to the smart phone at the expense of life.

If they were AFTER the quick reply box, i.e like the iRV2 forum site. The rest I could bear with using my AdBlock app to weed out most of the rest.

I understand about money and how it helps support a web site, but let's be reasonable where these ads are placed.

I see the the vBulletin info has been eliminated - does that mean the JanetH name has disappeared too?

At least a familiar name still appears.

Perhaps the forum should charge a membership fee and do away with the adds completely. How many are for that.

Not me. Adguard Plus takes most ads out, the rest are ignored after training
