New Member & Owner
Greetings from Alberta, Canada!
We just purchased a Montana High Country 318RE and take delivery next week. Having sold our holiday trailer this spring, we've suffered from "camping withdrawal" this summer, having to holiday in hotel rooms instead.
It was not all bad as it allowed us plenty of time to find the unit right for us. When we first saw the High Country 318RE, we knew this was the right one for us.
We are currently in the process of purchasing a tow vehicle for the new unit. I'm fairly certain it will be a new 2015 GMC Sierra HD 3500. (Duramax diesel) When looking at the weights, I found the 3500 gives more surplus payload capacity than the 2500. The 318 is not very heavy, but the published pin weight sure eats up the available payload of a 3/4 ton, so I'd sooner err on the side of safety.
It will be a long, cold Canadian winter waiting to use the trailer for the first time! We hope to head to Alaska or maybe Colorado.
Cheers!

Welcome to the MOC Forum. Your TV choice is a good one, you cannot have too much truck.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Winter hit us yesterday. 2 inches of snow and -20°C (0°F) But I've got the Christmas lights on the house and my trusty John Deere snow blower is ready to go, so I'm ready! Looking forward to spring and the first camping trip. Didn't take delivery yet. The dealer will be replacing a cracked cabinet door that we noticed during our pre-delivery walk through. And I'm still shopping for the truck to tow it with! I've got the hitch narrowed down to a Reese Elite, as I'd like to have a clean pickup box with no pesky rails in the way. Also considering a Sidewinder pin box (looking for 6.5 ft. box) and a Blue Ox bed saver as I'd rather be save than $6000.00 sorry! We may even pay the dealer to deliver the unit to the storage yard, then have all winter to shop for the truck/hitch.
Cheers,
Steve
