Just curious - what does the "platinum" Blue DEF do that regular DEF does not?
I had to buy a jug of that on our last trip because that is all they had available where we stopped.

If you can believe their claims, it reduces the amount of deposits in the exhaust stream compared to “regular” DEF reducing build up of those deposits in the exhaust system over time.

Apparently that has been somewhat of a problem primarily in long haul trucks I think.

It sounds reasonable that it could be helpful in preventing deposits as it claims but until an independent lab publishes unbiased data, who knows. Some would say that it is a small cost to gain an advantage but when it comes to things like this I always think of independent studies of fuel lubricity enhancers and the fact that some were found to actually reduce lubricity instead of add it. I was in Home Depot last week and there was an empty pallet sitting there where the blue def was and there was a small rack that had 3 boxes of platinum on it. So apparently not everyone is buying in. If it’s all I can get, I guess

My 2007 Duramax LBZ has been run on Delo 400 and in the last year and a half I started using the Kirtland brand diesel oil.. sold at Costco.. 3 gallon pack.. Ive changed oils 4 times since using this oil and nothing unusual with the appearance of the Kirtland diesel oil when I drain it...

Out here in Idaho the local walmarts, etc are very low on diesel oil and DEF sometimes.. I dnt use DEF with my LBZ..

Anyway - Costco puts there 3 gallon pack on sale from time to time at about $28 for the 3 gallon pack... good oil for my truck

do you know if the costco diesel oil contain all the specs ford recommends for a 2019 f350 6.7 diesel? having a hard time finding any motocraft diesel oil i have been useing also no rotella either.

Ford changed the specifications of oil recommendations a few years ago. The recommended oil wasn’t preventing wear like they wonted. Make sure the oil you use is up to par. The best way to find out how your engine is wearing send a sample to someone like Blackstone Labs. Just looking at your oil will not work.

I can't see where there can be too much difference in types of DEF. The government has said it must be 32.5% Urea and 67.5% deionized water. That's 100%, no room for anything else.

Just a note on deleting, when you go to trade your unit in that the DEF system has been deleted, some dealers don’t want the truck. I just added a fuel additive to boost the cetane level that makes your vehicle run cleaner, plus the diesel particulate filter does not soot up as fast. Just traded my 2011 Chevy Silverado Duramax(147,000 miles) for a 2022 1 ton srw. Dealer asked if I deleted, wasn’t going to take truck in on trade. Just an fyi

I got 12 jugs of Rotella on amazon. Was delivered in about a week along with 3 sets of filters.

It's gone nuts on Amazon. Cheapest I've found was $53.00 a gallon. I was afraid I was going to end up going that route.

I've heard the same thing. Texas even spells it out clearly:

Vehicle Sales

Texas law prohibits any person from selling, offering for sale, leasing, or offering to lease any vehicle not equipped with all emission control systems or devices in good operable condition. Violators are subject to penalties under the Texas Clean Air Act of up to $25,000 per violation. Buyers are advised to have the vehicle checked for all required emission control devices prior to purchasing a new or used vehicle.

A vehicle may not be legally sold if its original engine has been replaced with another certified engine but without the related emission control components. Tampering includes the failure to install the emission controls associated with an engine configuration.

No worries about selling a deleted truck ... there are individuals out there stacked up knee deep to a tall Indian waiting to give you more than trade-in at your stealership.

There are many looking for deleted Trucks. I do think if you delete the DEF system, keep every thing that was removed from the Truck. I never believed that the DEF works nor the re-gen system was worth the massive cost. This is my opinion, other's who are experts in this field may disagree. If I had a choice, I would not own a modern day truck, but, you have no choice.

If I sold my deleted and tuned truck with over 600 HP there would be people lined up to buy it. It only has 80,000 miles on it. There is no cat converter on a diesel truck but then there isn’t any pollution controls on mine.
I can load up another tune in about 20 minutes that is already in the tuner and have 750 HP.

There is a Cat Converter on the newer Diesel Trucks, it's just a Selective Catalytic Reduction System (SCR). Sorry I didn't fully describe it in my previous post.
