Sailun

I just had some new Saliun 637s put on my 2017. I just purchased this trailer in March and still had 2016 tires on it. I purchased 5 so that I had a new Spare tire also.

Mine are a 0221 date code and 1YJ 276 PLY, also made in Vietnam.

I keep my pressure about 92psi cold and haven't had any issues yet and hoping that I don't. I have the TPM that displays on my 2020 3500HD display. Love having the temperature along with the pressure display.

Have a great day all!

The ST tire market expands almost monthly. Take a look at this Korean one.

https://www.hankooktire.com/us/speci...iler-th31.html

Many people overlook other popular brands because they don't know they have widened their sizing and design base. This may be one of them.

https://www.carlislebrandtires.com/o...-detail/csl16/

The Carlisle has a popular 15" steel cased ST in that reference with a LRF rating.

No tire is perfect. Say what you want about the G614’s but I know of three large custom trailer builders in South Texas and many ranchers who won’t put anything else on their heavy duty trailers. They use/abuse them more than any of us. I’ll buy clothes made in Vietnam (China favorites I’m sure) but not tires! Enough of my $$$ going to China. And yes, I have G614’s on my rig.

I prefer US and if the GY were better I'd run them as safety is #1. Not ONLY if the Viet tire ruin the rep of Sailun but I spent over 2 years in that hellhole and would rather not give them a nickle.

Ah so.
Last blowout, the Tire Man told me no matter how much money I spent on a tire, if it looses pressure for any reason (road damage of some sort probably) the tire will heat up and the tread will separate. Made more sense to me than any other discussion. Thus the TPMS was installed. No problem since. 14,000 miles. OP stated he was warned by his TPMS, but could not pull off. Bad luck.
I decided recently to leave everything made in a communist bloc country on the shelf, unless there was no alternative. That will limit my choices. Increase my costs of operations. I’ll be replacing any tires with those made in America Goodyears. And South Korea is an option-they’re on our side.

So how fast were you driving? So many RVs pass me all the time when I am only pulling at 70MPH in areas like Utah etc. Then Ive seen them have blow outs down the road!
I have had a bad blow out with Goodyear Marathon RV tires at 60.
I now have Sailin's which have been great tires and have several friends who also have them and no problems at all!
I only am asking because so many don't read the rules, RV tires are only rated at 65MPH max. Also do you have a tire monitor system?
I added after my bad blow out and they are great.

Never a fun situation, hope all is O.K?

I drive between 60 and 65 - usually set the cruise to 62 mph.

I agree that speed is a factor and will only travel at 65 MPH or less when towing. That said, the Sailun S637's are rated at 75 MPH.

Purchased flat painted aluminum sheeting in a roll, cut to fit. Replaced plastic support brackets with treated lumber. Worked well and cost much less than J panel.

I was traveling 65... was cautious after the first blow out and wife was nervous about another one. I did order the J skirt it was actually cheaper then getting the skirt made and painted. I need to get an Air Nibbler, remove the rest of the skirting make a template and go to town !!

Unrelated I hit a tree, it literally jumped out in the middle of the road.... ok it didn't but getting a new front awning and going with spray on rhino roof with lifetime warranty. I think at that point once everything is done we are going to sell. The wife has her PhD and is going back to school to become a Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. So we wont be camping for a while, hopefully I can get the repairs done while the market is somewhat warm...

Dropped off the tires at big o. From there they are getting shipped to Florida to determine defect. These tires the 2 that blew we purchased April 2021 failed within 3 months.
Should I share the NTHSB case number does it matter to anyone ..?

Thoughts on they paying for the j skirt repairs …?

I would be very interested in following what they discover about the tire failures.
I have one of those on my back right tire.

I’m getting the feeling that running these tires at 110 will induce more failures. I’m not a tire expert so take my advise with a grain of salt…..

Tony, please keep us informed what you find out. I now have 5 of these Sailun tires. FedEx lost one, so Simple Tire replaced it, then FedEx found the lost tire and delivered it last week. I decided to keep it and called Simple Tire to pay for the additional one since I only ordered 4. My spare is 3 years old, but has never been on the ground. It is some off brand ST235/80R16 tire, I don't remember what brand but not Sailun. I suppose Keystone saved a few dollars by putting an off brand spare on a cheap wheel.
At this point, I only have 3 of the 5 installed and have about 600 miles on them. So far so good. The other 2 are in my garage, as the rig is in the shop to have a bad axle replaced under warranty from Dexter.

** Update**

Just exchanged emails with a Rep from TBC Corp, Customer Care and she is also coordinating with Product Liability Team. Sent them all the photos, all the tire receipts. Guess they may not want the tires shipped to FL to be analyzed...? She didn't quite know the process. If determined these 2 tires were in fact defects I would like to be reimbursed expenses for the J shirt repair... That is far I think...
